As we all know, the band leader cannot play a different instrument. This means that if you want to have everyone in your band be able to play any instrument, you have to create a new band for each band member. We all agree that this is an incredibly stupid mistake on the part of Harmonix, but now I've discovered another drawback.
In order to take a band online, it has to have a unique name. Well, for my band members, I was just using accented characters to distinguish them. For example, I'd have John as a guitarist and and Jöhn as a drummer.
It appears that this trick doesn't work with band names online. Can anyone confirm that? I created a band called Cantabile, and then I tried to create several variants of that band, like Cañtabile and Cäntabile, but Rock Band kept telling me that this band name was already used. I have a hard time believing that I was able to reserve Cantabile, but that all of its variants were already taken by other players.
