I was watching a video of a guy using them and they sound alot quieter and seem alot easier to do drum fills. Also, are there any other colors than tan? It looks ugly tan and also there was a comment about another guy selling gum rubber pads that were thinner and he sed those were better for drum fills. Is this true. If i decide to get gum rubber drum pads should get the thinnest i can find? Is it the skinnier the louder??

Thanks-Por2geezGuy

I think this boils down to personal preference and maybe some of what set of drums you have. I have the E something series, which people seem to say is more responsive even with the pads on.

We have two different pads on, the basic tan which isn't that bad, and then we have the red Durashield, both pads are 1/8" thick.

They offer FAR better bounce and are much quieter then having nothing, BUT, my main reason for getting them was to protect our drums because lets face it, who wants to return their peripherals and be without them for a week or a few??

So I think for protection, bounce and quieter the gum rubber is excellent!

Look at the first post of the thread in my signature line, there's a guy, a really GREAT guy to work with, he has the tan (cheapest) and red gum rubber and also has black neoprene, all of them I believe are 1/8" thick, which is just enough, any less, I am not sure you would get the protection, bounce and the quietness?!

i just got a set and they dampen the sound drastically.. the rebound is awesome as well, it feels much more like a real drum set now.. the rebound will also help you keep beat and get past parts you couldn't do before..

i'm thinking about maybe taping my pads back down though while having the gum rubber on top though to see if i can make them a little bit more sensitive.. all in all though, the gum rubber is an awesome solution

i was watching another video of a guy who used a foam pad and then covered it with a black piece of felt and it looked cool and sounded good but idk how well it picked up the hits. Should i go with Gum rubber or foam pad. Gum rubber seems better but im liking the black.

go with either gum rubber or neoprene.. neoprene is black so you might wanna check that out also.. after seeing people talk about gum rubber vs neoprene on the board though, i really dunno if they even do have any differences to be honest.. whatever u do though, definitely don't do the foam
