I purchased the game and it's assorted instruments on launch day after I played it as one of the Enforcers at PAX07. The game was a blast to play. Those were good times. Ever since then, I've been met with disappointment and failure on an epic level not seen since Joel Schumacher made "Batman and Robin".
As I said before, I purchased the game on launch day, but since then, I had moved to Hawaii, so I didn't get a chance to play it until I moved here in January. As soon as I pulled out the instruments and got everything set up for a drunken night of fun, I realized that the blue pad on my drum was broken. I had been hearing about widespread hardware failures and dismissed it as a vocal minority. For it to happen to me, well, it looks like they were right.
So I went through the RMA form, checked off what I needed and waited like a child does on Christmas Eve. When the package finally arrived, what do I see but the words "PS3 ROCKBAND DRUMSET" staring out at me. This wouldn't have been a problem if I had a PS3. No, I have a 360 (which, ironically enough, gave me a RROD shortly after I started playing Rock Band).
I called up EA's tech support people and told them that they had sent me the wrong drumset, etcetera. They were nice enough to express me the second drumkit, but lo and behold, when I opened it up last night, I saw the words "PS3 ROCKBAND DRUMSET". Again.
Now, I'm willing to forgive an initial hardware failure, and even the first mixup, but two? Really? The worst part of this is that I specifically told the operator that I wanted a 360 drumset no less then five times. FIVE. And I still got the wrong one. Again.
Needless to say, I'm furious right now and contemplating asking for a refund at this point.
On a somewhat related note, my guitar's strumbar is also broken. However, I can't help but wonder if EA's customer support has it in them to send me back the correct guitar without having to apply the "3rd times the charm" rule on me again.
