What exactly do you mean by this? All the instruments we have seen are technically prototypes, but are near final versions for Mic, Guitar, and Drums

As far as I know, I believe everything we've seen are prototypes. The guitar has been close to finalization, the mic can't be too difficult, it appears to have no problems. I think they can still make adjustments to the drums especially.
Bottom line, I don't think they're completely done with them. Slight changes can still be made.

Oh, well I think they are far enough along that there wont be any major changes such as adding an extra bass pedal, although I agree for certain songs it would be nice to have, but I think there are also ways around it.

I wanna know about the mic, there is a nasty rumor going around that it plugs into the controller thanks to a 40 min video that showed a mic plugged into a 360 controller. With this game being developed for PS3 also I have a hard time believing they would make 2 seperate version when both consoles support USB functions. Also if the headset is to lo-fidelity to use why would they use the same plug-in and reduce the quality from a USB connection. I wish they would answer this for sure, as this rumor has gained terrible momentum. :(
Plus, Many, many times it has been stated that it is in similar fashion to the Harmonix developed Karaoke Revolution mic.
I know the Mic design might not be final but I don't understand why someone from Harmonix wouldn't squash this dumb rumor right now. just come in and say USB CONFIRMED. These guys at Harmonix are like sly politicians who could sell you a vacuum cleaner though....
Or mabye because it's actually going to be wireless ;)

They could easily make the Ps3's Mic BluTooth i dont know about the 360's..

Even though I'm a 360 user, I really wouldn't be surprised if the Ps3 peripherals are much nicer than that of the 360.
I don't think the headset is lo-fidelity because it's plug into the controller, I think it's just lo-fidelity because of the quality of itself.
Therefore, the Rock Band mic can still plug into the 360 controller, and still have great quality because it's quality hardware.

All I care about at this point is that the drum kit won't fall apart, and that the songs are still challenging without an extra bass pedal / hi-hat pedal. If I can 100 percent a song with only a few tries, I will be one irate camper. It'd better be a tough game on expert.

I hope it is. The instruments are perfect.

I really am looking forward to playing and learning the drums, though the guitar is probably my favorite. (Also, really love the controller design, looks just like my Strat right here next to my desk!) What I wanna know is if the guitars will be wireless. I already have a wired GH 2 360 controller, but I'm getting the whole bundle, so I hope these are wireless.

so far, I am pretty sure that everything is wired to the xbox360. Except the mic, which is wired to the controller.
Anything can change tho.
