Just a quick question that I haven't found the answer to yet, is it possible to have face paint on a character and have the options from the makeup list layer over top of the face paint? Thanks in advance.

No. In order to see the makeup, you'd have to leave a gap in the face paint around the eyes and/or lips. I use "O"s and play with the scaling to outline areas that I don't want covered. It's a huge pain. Maybe they'll release a patch that makes makeup options become the top layer.

On one of my characters I used two half circles rotated and sized accordingly for the lips and two circles for the eyes over a full facepaint to create lipstick and eyeshadow for a corpse paint look. It's annoying and takes a bit of time, but you can get some pretty cool designs.

I managed to do flawless lipstick over full facepaint on one of my characters. It did take about 12 layers of shapes though, so it's not exactly easy.

That's the other option, doing the makeup effects in your face paint. Again this is tedious, but I find that the solid circle shape can be your friend. Careful, manipulation can get it to the looking pretty good for makeup effects. Also the "horn" shape comes in handy. 12 layers sounds about right.
