Band Characters and Online Play

Tonight I was playing Score Duel with Vocals. I was matched up against another player. We played and after the song was done I selected New Match and was matched up against same player. This happened 3 times in a row (apparently we were the only people doing vocal score duel at that moment). Well each time I played this person their character was exactly the same.

I thought the characters online were randomly chosen? Is that not how it works? If I select one of my characters will it be shown online to the other player? Normally I don't select a character and just go with whatever one is chosen by the game.

No sh*t... That wasnt my question. Basically I want to know if I select one of my characters is it displayed to the other person who I am playing against?

The character you select is seen by the other person online, either randomly generated or made by the user.
