Well today my bass pedal decided to give in. My brother is making us a new one, and he was wondering if using screws would mess up the device. He said he heard the pedal has a magnet, and wants to know if screws could mess it up.
Anyone know if it does?

Depends what you mean by "new one" if you mean "reinforce the broken chunks" like most people do, as long as you don't try to screw through the magnet you'll be fine. If you plan on removing the pedal pieces and manufacturing something new, then you'll have to also move the magnet to the new pedal and mount it with the correct clearance.

Conceivably, if you manufactured a whole new pedal out of something ferous, it would probably go badly for you. But so far I've only seen aluminum or wood, neither of which fit that bill.

My brother is making the part of the pedal that moves, not it's base. Theres a magnet in that part also?

The magnet is in the foot pedal (the part that moves). The switch the magnet throws is in the base.

I suggest you tell your brother to go look at the woodrock site (http://www.woodrockpedals.com/)to see what other people have done.

well, one of my pads didnt cracked... my pedal did.... I was playing "Die, Allright!" from The Hives, on expert, and like by 52 percent of the song it just "snap!"... and there goes the pedal-_-"... when I checked, it got stucked in a part below it(the orange part of the pedal, to another part that arent meant to touch) when it(the pedal) bended from my push, so when it went up it got stuk and the pressure of the spring just snapped it... well, since i didnt see a warranty about it, and i just got my new guitar from the warranty(my guitar strum didnt function), i will make an experiment by putting the two pieces together with a metal plate.... so it can be one hard piece:P.... its sad, cuz i mostly play the drums, but it will give me a chance to discover my abilities on the guitar and my singing voice, which its quite beautiful.... im being sarcastic.. well, if you guys got any suggestion, i will accept them:P...

^I just wrote that today on another topic.... but it fits better here...^
