Or as I like to call it: the Pop/Rock Hall of Sold a lot of Records.

Anyone else been there and been disappointed?

Gotta say that the saddest thing was Bruce Springsteen's t-shirt and jeans in between a Britney Spears outfit and the Hansen outfits from MmmBop.

If you are a music fan you should be able to appreciate the 'real' music items. Yeah the boy band stuff is bad but there is so much more good things than bad. I had goose bumps the entire time I was there.

I went to Cleveland a little more than 7 years ago to go to 'THE HALL'. First, there really is nothing in that city. The place has a lot of things related to music. Clothes, instruments, hand written lyrics. If you like music you would like it. Let me rephrase that, if you want to learn about music and see somethings that changed the face of pop culture go there and check it out.

Is there anything in there that you couldn't find in your local Hard Rock Cafe?

I'm not being an asshat, I'm genuinely curious.

The bass from The Clash's London Calling:

Signatures from all the artists inducted.

Jimi Hendrix's childhood crayon drawings and some amplifiers.

A lot of the stuff is pretty cool, actually. But they do stuff like induct bands before their idols (Metallica before Black Sabbath, wtf?) and pretend that pop music=rock and roll...

heheh...jimi's drawings, i wanna see that

i remember i went to a hard rock cafe...kinda (i just stood in the lobby while it was raining)
and i saw one of jimi's used guitars and i was like "holy crap...he played that" if i got that excited in the lobby of hard rock cafe i think the hall of fame would amaze me...nsync???

Yeah, what they do right, they do very well. If only they kept from slipping into the pop stuff.

For example: Blondie got inducted. BLONDIE! Heart of Glass is disco, and disco is the anti-rock. Sure, why not induct Kenny G while you're at it...

uh, no.

Heart of Glass is not disco, it is synth pop. And when disco was popular, disco was pop music, comparable to Hip-Hop now.

I'll take your word on the genre.

Regardless, Heart of Glass does not rock...

Don't Leave Me Hanging on the Telephone, Call Me - both good songs (despite the continual telephonic communications theme)

Do they have a section in the rock and roll hall of fame for managers/journalists and other behind the scens type people?

It's one song.

They've done plenty of rock songs too, you know.

Yeah, they've got a section for backing musicians (like James Jameson, the bassist for Motown) and another for managers/producers.

It's one song.

They've done plenty of rock songs too, you know.

They must all be so good I've never heard of them. I guess that's why they're in the hall of fame.

A lot of people have never heard a Velvet Underground song either, but that doesn't take away from their importance.

That's true.

I'm probably just not willing to give the RaRHoF the benefit of the doubt, because, well, they haven't earned it.
