View Full Version : Accessories .. Hmm - What what you want?

So .. if there was to be some accessory to come out for Rock Band what would it be?
Just an example ... .. How about a mic stand so those lyric learning guitarists/drummers could play their favoured instrument without having to hold the mic at the same time! An ordinary mic stand may do the trick but the mic looks a little smaller than normal .. ?

I forget where, and who suggested it, but someone suggested almost decal like accessories for the drums. Mainly just a circular cardboard cutout type thing that you can have in front of the drums to imitate a bass drum. And have different decals to be a logo on it!
Actually, because you can create a band logo, maybe they could have some of those preset templates as a choice for this accessory. That'd be awesome!

how about special gloves I can wear that are set on fire while I am shredding!

Speaking of gloves, drumming gloves would be pretty nifty to go along with the drum sticks.

Honestly, just one bag to carry two guitars, a drum kit, the mic, and an Xbox 360/PS3 (and all the cables and an extra controller, obviously).
I can see me having to lug this stuff around to a bunch of people's houses.

If everything is going to end up being wired, some sort of a rock band themed USB hub might be cool.
Some sort of decals/stickers/faceplates to customize the drumset and/or sticks.
Different varieties, colors, or materials for the guitar strap. That "backpack" nylon material on the GH2 guitar strap is really coarse... like wearing a sandpaper strap.
Depending on the success of Rock Band as a whole, there's an endless amount of possibilities for accessories. :)

Definitely like this idea but I've heard that you can use a real strap with the GH guitars. I haven't done it myself so I can't say if its true or not.
I'm also down with the mic stand. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a high demand for it. A lot of people are going to want to sing & play.

I use my stratocaster's strap for the GH controller. it works nicely, but sometimes comes undone and the guitar falls to the ground lol
yeah I REALLY want a mic stand, ( I actually thought that the mic would already have a stand bundled with it :\ ) I am planning on stealing/buying one off of my neighbor, but I don't know if it is the right size for the RB microphone. I am planning on singing while drumming/shredding so I hope HMX makes one.

I'd love to see amps in some form or another. What would be best (but most likely would make the peripherals expensive) would be to have a quality speaker built into the controllers but no matter how they implement it, what I mainly want is for the various instruments to play through separate outputs. It's one of the acessories I think would most enhance the experience of the game.

Me three on the mic stand.
The star-power pedal would be cool and convenient.
And a hi-hat pedal could be great, too. Just cancel out green for the RELEASE of the pedal.
Oh... and for RB 2 ... HARMONICAS! (I double dare you).

I definately agree, sorry to revisit such an old thread
I think a carrying case for all this equipment would be a great idea considering the value of playing with friends
With so much stuff, I think this kind of accessory is almost a must have

I remember this thread... it's funny how prophetic it turned out to be. Someone even mentioned Rock Band hair gel months ago and now we have this:
http://www.rockbandstore.com/detail.php?p=51505
Xzyliac wanted "bags to carry all this crap in"... and there are gig bags for drums and guitar.
And I mentioned wanting a rock band USB hub and cool guitar straps... and they're on the rockbandstore too.
Someone out there is listening to us... or else the old adage about "great minds think alike" is in full swing. Thanks for the bumpage and trip down memory lane. ;)
And with the official decals for the strat on the store, how long do you think it will be until you can get a custom decal printed with your own band logo? :D

Mic stand for sure... if i can find one cheap enough.
Getting some new guitar straps. Longer, wide, cushier ones.
Cool light. Strobe that flashes to the beat plus some kinda crappy disco ball or something.
Random rugs to improve the acoustics? lol

As far as mic stands go, Musician's Friend has several under $20 (I paid $12.99 for mine I believe, heavy iron stand, fully adjustable from drum height to taller than I need, and I'm 6'2"), and since I'm unsure about the size of the mic I got a butterfly clip for about 2 bucks that will fit anything. Less than 15 dollars and I have a mic stand that'll do anything I need it to, it's heavy enough to be stable and light enough to whip around and destroy furniture with if I get a litte too into it.

Hey I was in this thread with my old username!
Anywho, I hate to say it, or go against Rock Band or anything, but you can get this type of stuff much cheaper at real music stores.
$8 for drumsticks just because they say Rock Band on them? A $50 bag for the drums? You can get the same quality sticks for $2 a pair, maybe even less! And you can just go and buy some cheap duffel bag at Walmart for $10. Again just paying for the brand name on it.
I will be buying at least an RB shirt to represent though :D

Yeah, but Marty, the drum bag has some really sexy padding and stuff to keep the drums safe! :D

How about a set to turn the guitar into a bass? Most important is a thumb-rest, for finger style playing (I'm adding this on my own). It's both cosmetic, and functional.

I was thinking about this too. I was meaning to look at the Strat again if it had a fake pickup or something for a thumb-rest. Especially for the specific achievement that requires only Up-strums on the bass, a thumb-rest is a must.
I assume we could just make one out of something easily at least.

I have to say that $54 for a t-shirt is not very rock. GQ maybe, but most definitely not rock. The actual Rock Band t-shirt isn't badly priced, though.

Yeah, the only place to rest your thumb is on the 1/8" pickguard. Not comfortable.
I plan to use a thumb rest and 3M foam tape adhesive to attach it.

LEFT... HANDED... GUITAR... DAMNIT. :) I can't tell you how often I screw up a combo when I go for the whammy bar or turn the guitar upright.. if I could hit the trigger button or be able to just reach down for the bar... Anyhow I know why no one's making them.. I just wish they designed the guitar a little more open so the whammy bar was a module or something you could move to either side of the strum bar.

This is what I was getting at in my previous post. When I first saw the Store and all the clothes, shoes, and stuff, I thought it was just a mockup of what is available for the in-game Store. It wasn't until I saw all the other stuff that I realized it was for real.
No self-respected rocker spends almost $100 on a shirt. Thrift store band shirts and Fruit of the Loom black t-shirts are the way to go!

i've got my mic stand! i also have used my personal guitar strap that i use on my real strat with the GH controllers. it has worked fine and i like it a lot more than the other straps.
