today my new guitar from HMX arrived because my last one wouldnt downstrum, so i got it played in my band until my friend had to go so i was all warmed up so i said lets play some green grass and high tides and finish my solo carreer now, my first time through with my new guitar i FINALLY get through the hard part that im stuck on so after that i was kind of tense and was screwing up a bit on the easy parts so i try to activate my star power. it doesnt go off and im not even concentrating on the notes i just want this star power to work so im tilting the guitar up and down over and over again shaking it around yelling at my TV and i eventually lose the song at 97% and punch a hole threw my wall. OKAY now that i finished my story what do i do if the first day i get my new guitar the star power sensor is broken? am i aloud to ask for another one even though i just got this one today.

hitting select (or back button) activates star power.
you would've been perfectly fine.

I believe he may be speaking of the 360 version. so for you you would hit the select button. It also activates overdrive.

What this person means if you hit the back button on the guitar, it is the same as tilting the guitar and puts it in overdrive. This works for the xbox but not sure for PS.

The Overdrive sensor is a waste of time on Rock Band guitars. I've played several different Rock Band guitars and they all have tough sensors that don't activate until you've pretty much shook the hell out of it. The back button as the last guy was talking about will also activate the overdrive. Just try and hit it quickly.

Pressing select works for PS3 too.

thats not the point jezz you guys are thick skulled, hit select hit select, you are not answering his question. I hate hitting select that is what tilt is for if the tilt is not working you should get another guitar buddy. Yes you are aloud to ask for another one the company knows this first few runs are shot have you guys seen the $2000 custom drums for Rockband? (I assure you they exist) The company wants to sell you custom equipment when it is available thats the next big thing! So dude ask for another guitar and keep asking till you get a working one. If They would stop making the things out of country they may get a better product. (This is speculation on my part. I personally do not know where the equipment for the game is made and am not suggesting child labor in any way.)

What the hell do you think he's talking about? There's a back (for Xbox) or select (for PS) button on the guitar, you can hit that to go into overdrive. That's been a feature ever since the original Guitar Hero.
I do agree about the sensors though, I've played on 4 different guitars and every single one either went into overdrive randomly on its own or refuses to go into overdrive when I tilt the guitar. I lost Green Grass and High Tides the first couple times because my new guitar would use up my star power before I wanted it to and I never had any saved up for the last solo.

So if you don't feel like hitting select at the moment, it merits a hole through the wall. Cool.

i can see this guy now, in his fit of rage. flinging the guitar head up n down cuz overdrive won't kick in.
next time, level it out, and take it vertical and hold it for a sec. if that doens't worry, u gotta send it back again.
tough breaks, enjoy patching ur wall

I think people are only suggesting that, if his sensor is broken but he still wants to try to beat the song with reliable overdrive deployment in the meantime (while he waits for another replacement in the mail), he could use select. It's very reliable. Sorry you're having trouble!

That sort of testimonial makes me wonder if part of the problem is that you're maybe too rough on the controllers? ;)
Believe me, I understand - my Strat is unreliable on overdrive too - sometimes it goes off on its own while in my lap, sometimes it won't kick in when I tilt it. The tip about hitting Select is good advice. And it's not that difficult to do on the Strat! If you hold the strum bar near the right-hand side, it's easy to reach with your fingers, even while strumming. It sure requires a lot less manual dexterity than playing orange notes, that's for sure.

Personally, I think this guy should open a video blog.
Nothing would amuse me more than seeing an angry fat kid putting holes in his walls because he's mad at a video game.
Don't you ever change fat angry kid, people like me need people like you to laugh at.
