View Full Version : Rock Rebellion: Drum Oversight?

On the expert drum track for Rock Rebellion, the opening drum roll appears to have only half of the notes in the opening red drum roll charted.
Judging by the drummer's animations and the song track, it sounds like it should require a two-handed roll, yet I can comfortably tap it with one hand.
Have any other expert drummers noticed this? Or am I entirely off base with my observation?

No you are correct sir, it should be double the notes. I pointed that out somewhere in another thread. I'm starting to not like the fact that they are making some charts easier....I don't get it. Expert is supposed to be all the notes. In addition, its expert. Why do they need to make EXPERT easier? Its suposed to be the hardest.

Yes, the beginning seems like it should be a hard chart. But the song is still massively fun, and the fast part is pretty brutal.

yeah i noticed this on a couple songs actually..
the only reason i could think they do this is because certain parts of the drum charts would literally be impossible to actually do with the way the drum kits are made
that would be my guess.. anybody agree or do you guys think it's for a different reason?

That would make no sense, otherwise RTTH would not exist.
I've noticed this too and can't come up with a good explanation. It can't be to keep the whole chart under a given 'difficulty level' because the irregular ride / snare triplets that show up later on are much harder than that opening roll would be. So I just can't think of a good reason for it at all. If someone from HMX would enlighten us it would be much appreciated. :)

Agreed.
Sounds like perhaps it was an oversight or something. The song is fun regardless.

in wanted dead or alive, they take out an entire drum roll. its near the first minute of the song. but see if you have overdrive at that point it becomes a fill. if you don't have overdrive, you'll hear an extremely fast roll but you don't get to play it.

Yeah, bands are rockin' enough with only one lead singer... and they take that experience times 20 or 30 with an entire Rock Possie.

I've noticed a few drum charting "errors." Like everyone's said, the roll in Wanted Dead or Alive, but has anyone noticed a missing snare hit on GGAHT right after it comes out of the fast blue part on the slow solo? Everytime I play it, there's a snare hit that I hear, but don't play. Oh well, still great stuff, and I don't let it bother me.

Yeah, I noticed that too. there's also the the missing cymbal rolls in Wanted Dead or Alive that everyone has pointed out. I didn't notice the snare hit in GG&HT.
There's a few totally missing kicks in and justice for all.. I'm not talking about merged double kicks, I mean just kicks that aren't there.

I've notice it too. I think it's because they just want to keep songs at a certain difficulty. For me "Wanted Dead or Alive" is the best example. They want it to be in the first category so they dumb down the drums. There are rolls missing like crazy in that song (they even put it too early in the guitar section IMO, alot harder to play then some that come after). Just another quick thought. Is In Bloom not 100 times harder on Expert Drums than say Gimme Shelter. Some of the difficulty categories are way messed up.

I always used to assume that some of the missing drum hits were due to compensation for the kit's inability to play some of the songs. Now, however, I think it is due to a reduced difficulty curve. I think the idea is this:
(assume -> means "graduates to")
Easy -> Medium
Medium -> Hard
Hard -> Expert
Expert -> Real drums
So, the expert drums aren't always as hard as the actual drums being played, but they're usually close. Once you can beat every song on expert, then you could graduate to real drums and do well enough (assuming of course you can pick up on the whole "no colorful scrolling notes to help you" and "completely different positioning and grip" thing :p).
I think, however, that once they iron out the problems with the malfunctioning kits, they should introduce a new "hardcore" mode or something for some songs where the drums are as close as possible to the real thing. That would include double-bass taps in songs like And Justice For All too.
It would only work for some songs though, because most of the songs are well represented on expert and couldn't really be any more difficult without pulling a GH3 and adding stuff in where there's no music to match.

Yes I also thought it was an oversight once i heard it. But none the less I still like the song alot. Think they will send a patch to fix it?
