View Full Version : Concert Wish List

The theme of this thread is: who did you miss seeing you wish you had seen? It has to have been someone you could actually have seen -- if the band broke up before you were born, don't put 'em on the list.

I admit to getting very snobby at times -- I hope I'm over it, because as this list will show, the only one who gets hurt when you cop an attitude is you. So, here are some of the bands I could have seen, but I was too busy looking down my nose at to get out and go see:

The Beatles -- I was just being contrarian -- everyone liked them, so I wanted to be different
The (original) Beach Boys -- I'm a huge fan, which may get me dinged on these forums, but by the time they were doing real concerts, it wasn't cool to like them
The Rolling Stones with Mick Taylor -- I was mad at Taylor for going commercial
Led Zeppelin -- pretty much a jazz snob by this time, although I certainly don't regret all the Mahavishnu Orchestra shows I saw. Also another reason I didn't have time for the Stones.
The Band -- I guess I thought they were really more of a recording act than a live act. By the time the Last Waltz proved me wrong it was too late.
Little Feat with Lowell George -- Stuck in graduate school in the boonies

Those are my biggest regrets. :( Your turn.

I've had tickets to see Pearl Jam 3 times. They're my friggin favorite band, and every time it interferes with my work schedule. I work for a police agency (i'm still a cadet) so they don't really like you skipping work for something like that.
Another show i've missed is Live played about a 25 minute drive away from me, and another show in Hershey Park with breaking ben and collective soul, and i missed both of them, had tickets to one, and my friend had tickets to the other. I hate work.
Last but not least. Bush. i love bush. almost all of their songs. and the bands friggin broken up. sure rossdale is in institute and they have a couple cool songs (when animals attack, bullet proof skin), but I wanted to see comedown, warm machine, superman, machinehead, the chemicals between us, everything zen... all that crap live. i would cut off a toe to see them get back together and play a show.

and fogey, i'm with ya on the beach boys. i actually saw their last concert with "most" of their original members RIP Dennis. i was just a wee little kid, but my parents bought tickets and i still have a hat from the concert. it was AMAZING.

Outside of the obvious answers, Hendrix, The Doors etc I'll mention a couiple of concert regrets.

One is Queen. A bunch of friends were going to see Queen on the Hot Space Tour if I recal correctly and had an extra ticket. I passed as I was already hitting 3 shows that week and figured I'd catch them next around. Well there never was a next time around. They quit touring North America after that.

The other is Frank Zappa. 1987 or 1988 I think. Same scenario as above, I passed figuring next time around. Sadly there was never a next time around. Frank retired from touring and cancer took him a few years later.:(

The Clash. At least I saw Joe before he passed.
Elvis... died shortly after I turned 3. Even fat, drugged out Elvis was completely mesmerizing on stage.
Johnny Cash

There are others but those 3 would be far beyond any of them.

Bush. i love bush.

I will refrain from making the obvious joke... ;)

Probably Van Halen on their recent reunion tour. I've seen Van Hagar twice, and I've seen Diamond Dave solo, but it would have been cool to see Dave with Eddie and Alex. It wouldn't really have been Van Halen to the purist in me, though, since Michael Anthony wasn't there. But I didn't feel like paying an obscene amount of money to see an auditorium show, which I hate.

I can understand your reasoning however if you have the chance to catch VH on the new leg of the tour do so. I caught them a couple of times and it was stellar!! They are arguably playing and sounding better now than the 1984 tour.
