I've heard that it will be included and I've heard that it won't. Can someone show me the light?

Nothing right now is totally confirmed. But at first it said no Bass campaign. But then they changed it so there was. So I would imagine yes.

? This is news to me.
When the gameplay was first announced everyone that has ever represented Harmonix has said that there is no Bass career mode.
If this has change as of late, please reference your source.

As much as I would love a bass campaign, I don't think it's gonna happen, for reasons previously stated by Rock Band higher-ups. I'm thinkin no.
But if it is confirmed, please source. I think a bass campaign would be cool.

According to rockband.com there is no bass single player besides quickplay, I don't think bass has enough going for it to support a full on single player, like singing, guitar and drums do.

Well that did say before that it could be "too repetitive"
I'd link, but I really can't remember which interview, probably the Gamespot one.

Shame. It's like a slap in the face for bass players. :(
Speaking of slap, they need to implement bass campaign, create a new bass guitar with both a "strum" button and a "slap" button below the strum. How fun would that be?!?! I'd buy it!

The slap button could just be a killswitch for normal guitars.

Wow, that is a nice find. But I have a feeling that there is still no bass campaign (even though I wish there were). I'm chalking this up to vague writing leading to an incorrect conclusion about there being a bass solo playthrough.
I would love if HMX would clear this up.

There isn't a solo offline bass campaign. I know, it would be cool if it would work, but there it is. Making games is a subtle tug of war between wants and available resources and time. Which isn't to say you can't play bass in game.

Being a bassist, I find this not to be an issue. Sure it would be neat, but lets face it, there is a lack of people really interested in the bass. People that claim bass is repetitive and boring, obviously don't know what techniques can be applied to the instrument. Sure! A majority of music does have simple bass lines. But if you play bass or have interest in bass, its because you listen to music that is more bass driven. In actuality its the percussion and bass that lay rhythm down for the rest of the band mates. Its the "foundation" so to speak.
Besides, bass is playable! Just not as a career. I find that more than sufficient enough for me.

One of the biggest things you have to deal with and get used to as a bassist is the lack of appreciation and neglect for your role in the band.
..Then you get used how easy it is to impress people when you get the chance since everyone's used to boring bass lines and such.

it'd kinda be a false inflation of the game if they were just to 'add' a bass campaign. I mean, not in a bad way, all the notecharts are there, all they would have to do basically (if campaign is ANYTHING like gh1/2) add a option for bass in campaign and then voila. however, I'm guessing there is a lot more too it.
just pretend its a campaign on quick play

Basslines aren't anymore repetitive than drum lines are.

Well, if there's no bass campaign, at least give us some sort of performance or quickplay option other than a practice mode.
It was frustrating that in GH, you could only play solo bass in practice mode, and when you did the other band tracks were muted, so it was no fun at all.
Can you confirm the ability to play bass solo in such a non-practice mode will full band volume?

I am pretty darn sure that when you go to solo quick play, you can choose whichever instrument you would like to play, then song, and then difficulty. So I believe you will be able to play bass in solo quick play.

well then they should get some songs such as early chili's i.e 'throw away your television', 'get up and jump' etc. but you get my point, more sort of fuk for very inventive and challenging bass lines.

Since when is Throw Away Your Television "early" RHCP? If they do have RHCP, I hope it's not anything after BSSM.

The Majority of Bass in rock music is repetitve and bland. And any songs that have bass that stands out, the other instruments would suffer, since bass is known to be with the drums and set rhythm, not shine out as a ear-bleeding solo instrument.

this could be pretty easily fixed by just putting in achievements like "beat all songs on bass on easy/medium/hard/expert" because people would then play all of the songs with the bass and it would be similar to a career

I've only heard that there won't be a bass campaign-mode. I think there should be, though.
