View Full Version : Score Duel and Tug of War Ripoffs

So here's the scenario I've seen played out on more than one occasion, with both ranked score duel and tug of war matches.

I'm playing another person in a ranked match and I'm beating them pretty handily. I've been in the lead for 98% of the match, I have 98% of the notes hit vs. their 87%. Then we get to a big rock ending. We're both frantically mashing our buttons to max out our final scores. The lock-in notes show up and we both nail them with pretty similar (within 100 points) bonus amounts.

I won the match, right? WRONG! This person who has been getting smashed for the whole song and now essentially only equals me in a BRE is declared the winner. WTF!? I thought it may have just been a fluke or something, but this happened to me at least 4 or 5 times. One time I even had the bigger rock ending, by just a little bit, but still bigger nonetheless and I still lost! This has also resulted in many ties, which I can't even really imagine how that could happen more than once, let alone multiple times.

Has anyone else experienced this and/or is this a known bug? If this is by design it is very frustrating. This has happened to me on guitar, bass, and drums. I haven't tried a vocals score duel yet, but since there's not really much of a BRE with the vocals, it probably doesn't happen there.

Thoughts, opinions....am I alone on this one? I could understand if one person didn't hit the ending how a comeback like that could happen, but when you both hit it, it boggles my mind.

I hit 100% of the notes in Are You Gonna Be My Girl against some guy who hit 98%. He did pretty well, but 2 mintes later he sends me a message that says "You didn't get 100%"

We figured out that his screen showed me missing half my notes and "losing". But I did get the win and I hit all my notes.

Go figure eh.

Someone else got mad at me because on his screen I had stopped playing altogether.

It would be nice to feel sure that the scores I see are accurate.. Otherwise it just defeats the purpose.

This has happened to me too. As near as I can see, this is what happens when the connection goes out of sync. Instead of trying to resync right away it'll wait until the end and then sort it out. The rouble is though that it doesn't seem to sync up properly sometimes. I'm really not sure what HMX could do about this, lag is always going to be a factor, there's not much that can be done about that.

I would honestly like it to just display a message, warning me that what I see isn't correct.

That would at satisfy me, since then I could at least not have to worry after every song that I might lose all the sudden.

Yes, FPS's have been doing this for years on the PC, that would be nice to see on RB too. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one, but if this is happening across the board it needs to be addressed or it just turns a fun experience into an aggravating one.

Thanks for the reassurance guys, and hopefully one of the Harmonix devs will see this thread and investigate.

In the heat of play I could understand some prediction going on, but the end scores should totally be what the other Xbox/PS3 reports, not what your console thinks.

Also competitive play with BREs... SHUDDER. I don't want to be mashing on my ABXY buttons like a goon just so I beat someone in a drum duel.
