Right now, whether or not I will have Xbox Live is very much up in the air. My one friend has no Xbox Live, but he got the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack, so it's all good. Could Rock Band release downloadable songs on a disk similar to the Halo 2 map pack? I think it would be a pretty good idea.

I predict a Holiday 08 expansion release containing the full years content. This may also replace the typical sequel cycle.

I predict no DLC discs whatsoever.

They'd have to license all of the songs for the disc in addition to DLC, which isn't feasible unless they're already doing that from the start.

So do that from the get go. It isn't that difficult especially with the success of Harmonix and the aggresively persuasive EA plus the support of MTV.

that could be great, the way my work schedule is i dont have time for xbox live, a disc with songs or albumns to add to the songlist will be GREAT

Aren't there sometimes free trials for XBL Gold? Perhaps get one of those offers, download as much as possible, then don't bother signing up lol

I'm confused as to why everyone seems to think you need Gold to download. You don't..Silver, which is free, gives you download capabilities. All Gold really does is give you the ability to play online, and a few other smaller things. So yes, you'll miss out on the online aspect, which is huge...but you'd still be able to download songs...

Edit: I apologize, not EVERYTHING is available for just Silver members, there are Gold exclusives, but all the GH2 song packs that I've gotten so far, as far as I've noticed are not Gold exclusive...so it's possible you could get the songs with just Silver. Sorry for the rant. :P

Kane is correct but I think the problem is he has no Live, period.

wait, you don't need XBL Gold to buy DLC do you? I would think that you would only need a Silver account for that. I mean come on, why would Microsoft pass up a chance to get even MORE money? Plus there is no cost for PS3 to access DLC. You still have to buy it, but you don't need a monthly subscription to shop.
I wouldn't worry Blue88, as long as you have an internet connection, and some Microsoft Points, you should be okay.

Of course you don't need Gold.

Microsoft deprive you of a chance to give them money? Never.

I think that is a good possibility, although they probably wont be able to fit all the DLC on a disc, but there may be either periodic releases when say 60 songs have been released, or a best of disc of the whole year made up of the most downloaded songs, or something like that.

Very unlikely to happen imo. All you need is an internet connection and money to get DLC. The amount of people without an internet connection but with a 360 and Rock Band is so small its unlikely Harmonix would take the time to cater to this small group.

I'm with you on that. For all the money they'd probably spend in licensing and producing the disks and packaging, it probably would not be worth it for the amount of people that don't have internet access.
