I love how people who know nothing about metal think that the reason we love it is because some of it is fast. Sure I love fast tempos, but I also like advanced musical techniques. Fast doesn't equal good.

So the whole "fast solo" argument means nothing to me. I'm more concerned about their lack of compositional ability. Any jackass can sit down and write a song with a bridge, a chorus, and a verse comprised of 3 or four chords. Toss in a half-assed attempt at a solo to break it up a little, and you've got yourself the majority of what you see on MTV.
