yeah gwar put on a great live show, not really a fan of their music. I saw them at last year's Sound of the Underground and I'll see them in this year's Sotu Aug. 5th

Lol I'm seeing Weird Al on August 12... I have to take my 12 year old brother. Anybody seen him? Any good? But to make up for Weird Al, I get to see Incubus on the 10th at the same venue, and IMO they're one of the best live bands of all time.

i'm not gonna say you missed much cuz u obviously did but lets just say they didn't play 2112 which is dissappointing.

7 days and like 21 minutes till rush hits the stage on august 12 \m/

Saw em in June, They played a bit too much of the new album which was annoying, but hthe crowd pleasers all the more sweet. Some of the most famous stuff they played:

Limelight (opener)
Freewill
Tom Sawyer (w/ hilarious South Park clip)
YYZ
Spirit of Radio
Red Barchetta (I think)
and much else... have a good time dude

Rush are my favourite band, absolutely unreal musicians, especially live. I was at the July 18th show here in Calgary and it was awesome. I knew they'd rule live but you just dont really realise how wicked they are until you see them for yourself.

Neil Pearts drum solo will change your life, just a warning though. its a watered down version of his solo from the R30 DVD, still mind boggling though. you might also be disappointed to know that the majority of their setlist is from their new album (which isnt a bad thing at all). they still play a ton of old classics though.

good show, though. you wont be disappointed. unless you're not big on their new album (which isnt possible, really), then you might not like it but either way, Rush live, hard to shake a stick at that.

yeah i already know the setlist. and snakes&arrows is my #2 album of the year basically. i haven't seen r30 though but someone told me its the same solo basically as rush in rio

but yeah i'll have a good time thx 4 the words bro 6 more days folks till rush hits the stage \m/

no, the drum solo on Rush in Rio is shorter and not even close to being anything like Der Tormmler. but any Peart solo is great.

man, you'll have a mind blowing experience. once you see them do their thing live you'll totally question music as a whole. after seeing that show I now need to see Yes live, must be done.

I saw them when they kicked off their tour this year in atlanta at the hi-fi buys ampitheater. It was my first time seeing them live and let me tell you, you will not be disappointed hehe. They were absolutely amazing and yes they did play quite a few songs from their new album but I really liked the set list they had it was very impressive. I'm currently learning bass right now so it was amazing for me because we were sitting 5th row on geddy's side of the stage so close to him and it just blew my mind some of the things he could do. Not taking anything away from the other two obviously hehe im just a Geddy fan.

The only things I could really say went wrong were both with Alex. When they started to play between the wheels Alex's wireless for his guitar just didnt work so geddy and neil were just sitting there playing the intro until they fixed it lol. Also when they did the solo for YYZ Alex screwed up a note during the solo (I think). Everyone seemed to notice it.

I'm 19 and this was actually the first concert I've ever been to for any band so I don't really have any others to compare it to but from what I hear theyre always one of the best at putting on a show so I guess it was a good one to go to for my first.

Sorry for the long post :P

I've seen countless shows. the best off the top of my head being Motley Crue and the first Gigantour but Rush was better than the both of them.

and yes, Geddy Lee is like a Canadian, bass playing Jesus.

I'm going Sept. 2.

Can't wait.

Snakes & Arrows is a pretty cool CD, but it's nothing compared to their old ****.

Saying it's the best CD of '06 is pretty big though. I mean there were some solid releases.

of 07***

and yes i know but as a rush fanboy i was supremely suprised at the good quality of this album. other albums have been good so far this year but some have already gone unnoticed for me while i still listen to s&a weekly. also i'm sure the only album thats gotta matter once 07 is done is the new ulver album :D

Rush is probably one of the best concerts to go to.

One of the best drummers, one of the best bassists (who can play keyboard with his feet)

Have fun dude haha

Oh wow. It hasn't been that long then.

I thought Snakes and Arrows came out in November.

And I will have fun. I will.

Saw them at the Hollywood Bowl a couple weeks ago. Awesome show, I had 5th row tickets to it, probably 3rd best concert I've ever been to. Couldn't have asked for more.

However, I saw Dream Theater 4 days later at the Gibson Ampitheatre, which just blew away any other concert I've ever been to. Second row seats, I was close enough to see individual hairs on Petrucci's arms. It was absolutely amazing. Better than the Rush concert by a factor of 200, which is saying a lot.

ya still can't be a *bit* disappointed that they didn't play 2112. on the way home though my dad gave me hope when he told me that the last times he saw them they played the new album on the first tour of the year and the next tour they played 90% classics. so here's hoping to a fall/winter tour where they actually play 2112 and other major hits (fly by night, by-tor, etc)

damn thats just a horrible job by san antonio of promoting the concert

completely off topic but since this is my thread i guess i can derail it but : how is it like living in san antonio?? i've only really been around the neighboring cities like selma and it seemed like a nice place to live
