they need to have a small group of girl singer songs for this game. not too many because mostly dudes will play but just like 2 or 3 would be great. so what song would you love to see your girlfriend sing?
i would go with
flyleaf- all around me
or
kittie- into the darkness
or
kittie- spit
please voice your opinion.

i think the new kittie song would be kool 4 rb...but into the darkness would be sweet 2....but spit...if i can remember most of it in my head...there is 2 much screaming 4 girls 2 do...not most girsls could scream and make it sound good...but as far as flyleaf goes i would like 2 c so sick or fully alive

Walls of Jericho, any song really.

But the first Kittie album didn't have as much screaming as Oracle did. A lot of girls could pull off Spit I think.

Also, VAGIANT!

Here here! I would love to see flyleaf's sick and fully alive on this game. That, however, seems to be the extent of female singers i can recall that would be accessible enough for the general population to pull off. I am afraid the chorus for kittie's Spit would turn most female's off to attempting their own rendition.

I will bring this to light, at the horrendous risk of igniting a flame war, the cranberries' zombie would be right at home on this game. Thats not to say I would like to hear again but other than a few quavering vocal areas I think it would be a huge draw for this game.

If only a girl that could imitate the vocal styling of otep would come into my life. That would be a good thing.

Good call. Hell, I think guys & girls would be like to sing it. Besides, a worse flame war would've been if you had suggested some Alanis.

I also second the nomination of some Kittie songs. I've only listened to the first album so I'd go with just about anything on it.

I'd love it if The Breeders' "Canonball" was in the game, tho. I think its a fun song and one of the best alternative songs of its time.

I earnestly beleive that Rock Band should include some songs with female vocalists. I understand that guys would feel less comfortable singing along with a female vocalist than girls would feel singing along with a male vocalist, but having some songs with a female vocalist would help attract a wider audience and add some variety. Here are a few songs I would like to play:

The Cranberries, Zombie - as previously mentioned, this song would work very well in Rock Band and it is quite possibly my favorite rock song with a female vocalist.

Garbage, Only Happy When it Rains - This song would be pretty fun to rock out to.

Kelly Clarkson, Behind These Hazel Eyes - This song is problematic for a couple reasons. Are Kelly Clarkson's songs even rock? I think this one is. The other problem is that I can't imagine many guys who would feel comfortable singing this.

Your full of crap johnyringo04!!! Girls dont need to be restricted to just female singer songs!!! And what a load, more guys will play...I'm a female and a huge fan of Guitar Hero and can't wait till I get Rock Band!! Guess what, girls are interested in music and oh my god they like metal and death metal and goth metal and doom metal and black metal just as much as any guy!!!! If you want a female singer have Arch Enemy!! Or Tristania for some operatic vocals!! None of this pop singing crap!!!

Perhaps, Angellore, you misunderstood. For my part, I did not mean to imply that girls can only sing songs with female vocalists or that girls don't enjoy rock music. I do believe, however, that both men and women would feel more comfortable singing along with a vocalist of their own gender. Also, because there are several great rock songs with female vocalists, they should be included on their own merits.

In addition to the three songs I mentioned in my first post, I agree that Flyleaf, Fully Alive would make a nice addition. Veruca Salt, Seether could also work in Rock Band; I would enjoy playing it. I'm also pondering the merits of a No Doubt song in Rock Band. I think that Sunday Morning might be best if it were to be in the main game. Just A Girl is a great song but it would be torturous to make a guy sing so it would be better as a download. Evanescence would be tough to fit in because they use a lot of keyboard, chorus, and simple guitar parts. Everybody's Fool might be workable but I wouldn't want it in the main game. I think that The Breeders, Cannonball is a little too repetitive for Rock Band but it could be a download.

I'd like to have female vocalists not for the girls to sing but for the variation.
I'm a girl and I don't mind, although with Singstar I experienced that songs are easier to sing if the original is not too far from your own voice.

Bands that come to my mind are:
Hole, Garbage, Rasputina (although probably not suitable)

HMX stated that in RB you can go up or down in pitch. So if your range isn't the same as the original then you still can ace the song.

I mostly disagree with most here.
Girls don't really need other songs, though some female vocals songs could be added.
I wouldn't mind singing a song that originally had female vocals, except if it would sound creepy. Heh.

I'd like to see a girl sing Burning of the Midnight Lamp by Jimi Hendrix Experience.

no i didnt mean imaginary girlfriend but its looking like thats what im going to have pretty soon again. but anyways i agree with those of you who put down cranberries, garbage, no doubt, and hole. they are exceptional bands along with the two i listed, flyleaf, and kittie. so im glad most of us are on the same page and we all know what harmonix needs to put on this game.

Sorry, had to go when I was posting.

To continue my list:

- Hole [celebrity skin, violet, be a man]
- Garbage
- Rasputina [tourniquet, rock and roll]
- Tape
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs
- Juliette and the Licks [killer] (maybe as a bonus)
- Tura Satana
- Kittie

All others I can think of are unfortunately very unfitting for this game.

Foreign bands:

- Guano Apes (though guitar parts might be too boring)

Aren't the Cranberries too soft for this? And I like No Doubt, but I can't think of a great song for the game either.

i was just thinking about this the other day. what are the chances that songs with a female vocalist would make it in? there's a lot of great songs, but given the singing aspect of the game, would the developers exclude them because men would be uncomfortable singing the tunes?

On the flip side chicks might be annoyed if there are no women in there, so we'll probably see a couple of songs with female vox. I expect the ratio to be similar to the GH games. Even if there are no females in the main setlist, vagiant will most likely be in it.

Also, £50 says the op doesn't have a gf.

i totally see both sides, if i was a girl i'd think it would be sexist not to include songs they were made to sing. but again, there are campaign modes for singing too. the ladies dont give a damn singing songs whether theyre sung by men or women, but the fellas would be forced to sing all songs to complete single player modes. it's not necessarily the pitch, but also the lyrics, for example a song about some boyfriend. face it, guys are just homophobic like that.

Kang_Zircon
08-08-2007, 04:01 PM
From my experience, any guy too chicken to sing a song with female vocals isn't any more likely to sing David Bowie or Bon Jovi.

I don't see what the problem is, it's not like there aren't plenty of good options. The female vocals in karaoke games tend to be harder than the male vocals, too.

This game has the opportunity to broaden the video game market by reaching out the all girlfriends out there. If you do not put at least 5 girl lead songs in the game, you will offend women. I am appalled by many of you guys lack of concern for female vocal songs because you are afraid of singing girl songs. Grow up. 90% of the bands you listed sucks, for one.

For two, there are 210490290 more songs made by male-fronted singers than there are female-fronted singers. So go on your pms trip elsewhere if you're just going to be biased and not look at the facts.

I love male vocaled songs as much as the next dude, but there are a huge list of great female artists out there. I love how if a band doesn't fit into your cookie cutter idea of music that they suck, and if I stand up for a female view that I am a fembot.

You obviously have skewed view of what a feminist is. This isn't the time and place to argue about that.

And these bands will most likely make it into RB either in launch or DLC so don't play them if you don't like them.

As for all of those other male vocalled songs, please go sing them.

There are no such things as facts when it comes to music. You have PREFERENCE! which is an OPINION! There is no facts out there that say male vocals are better. Take your OPINIONS and put them in a blog because that's all they are. Opinion don't equal facts.

It's still opinion depending on who you talk to. 50 cent might think that he's better than Led Zepplin. Plus I know A LOT of people who don't think that Led Zepplin is very good at all. Musical preference is just an opinion no matter whether I went to study music or create it on a computer.

That's not how the world works. Facts are facts for a reason. They no longer become facts when they are biased. i dont think so. it's not that i feel bad for them, i think that if not one song by a female vocalist did not make it into the game, it would be somewhat suspect. and it would likely be for the reasons i stated in this thread, which makes it sexist.
although the ratio of hit rock songs sung by men v. women is lopsided by great proportions, there are still a few that could make it in. im not saying there should by half songs by men half by women. even a 5:1 ratio would be a stretch. but as it stands right now, there's not even one song (on the short track list made public) with female vocals.

Feminisms reputation has been ruined by radicals, hypocrites, idiots, and a combination of these. So feminazi is sometimes thought of as close to, or is feminism.

It just so happens that the genre of rock has lots of male artists. Therefore there are more good ones. There are more bad ones, but thats because there are so much that there is a higher chance of it being good.

I don't usually like female vocals beyond Heart, and Jefferson Airplane. Is that sexist? My mother doesn't usually like them either. I'm sure if there were tons and tons of female vocalists I'd like more.

I might add it's very hypocritical of you to be ageist to Revolver. He is quite smart, and until now I thought he was older. You don't want people to be the slightist hint of sexist, or even accidently sexist, but when it comes to ageism you outright insult him because of his age, more younger people are dumb, but if you see someone smart, and they happens to be underage, you don't automatically call them dumb.

He seems much smarter than you anyway, and doesn't sound 10 at all. His spelling and righting style are leagues better than a 10-14 year olds. And that's if they are intelligent. When I was 11, I first started posting. I could spell, but I typed generically, and my grammar was off by a lot. I improved up until now. People get smarter with age, but it isn't the universal factor of intelligence.

It's not sexist if you prefer male vocals. It's your opinion, but to say that male vocals are inherently better than female vocals is silly.
