What was your guys strategy when you went from Normal guitar to hard? I have been practicing the "easier" pieces on hard, but man switching hand positions confuses me at times. You guys have any tips that helped you guys out.

All I can say is that you should spend your time on hard wisely and start using both sticks on the drums.

I somehow managed to work through hard using one stick quickly on yellow (some songs where alot harder than others), and now I'm finding expert near impossible because I think I picked up bad habits just trying to survive through hard.

I think hard is where basic drumming techniques become important to use, instead of just hitting the right drums at the right time (which is what I was doing).

Getting your leg to move autonomously on the bass pedal without thinking is the key to just plain survival on hard, and that will come with time and knowing how the songs you are playing are supposed to sound.

I found (and this is wierd) how I got to know how the drums are supposed to sound on songs, is by playing the songs on guitar and really keeping your ear out for the rythym of the drums. Doing this, I was able to associate the rythym of the drums with the rest of the song, and when playing the songs, now the tempo is ingrained in your head (you can help get the tempo from the guitar and vocals as opposed to just trying to keep it yourself), and now you just need to make sure you are playing on the right drums. I was able to do this mainly because I find that RB is ALOT easier to play on guitar than Guitar Hero.

Does this make ANY sense at all to any real drummers?

Oh.. you said guitar... I'm a ******, never mind. LOL

Play Guitar Hero... it'll make you a much better guitarist on RB, because it is WAY easier... I'll shut up now.

The best way to hold your hand IMO is to have the middle on yellow and the index on green and slide it to red. Try not to wrap your thumb over the top and keep it flat on the back of the neck and use it to pivot. Good luck :)

Oh and on green/red chords slide middle down. when you need to get back to initial position you'll feel the bump on the yellow button so you'll know you're in the correct place. Keep practicing it Will eventually become second nature to you. Good luck;)

Play a few songs on easy then medium using lefty flip, I found this helped me to have a better feel for the entire fret. It gets your brain working a little harder thinking about what button you are pressing, without the harder rythyms.
