Hate the cover of Ten Speed? I've never had too big a deal with the covers before. I got through the Rush, the guy doing Geddy was off but it wasn't this bad. Maybe it'll be better when I get all my friends to play it and our singer can just over shadow the guy on the track. But thus far, I regret that they put Ten Speed on here, even though it's been a song I've long wanted, it's just a really bad cover.

While I do believe the cover is pretty off, his is a voice you simply can't recreate correctly.
Same with the Rush covers, though those are much better than the Ten Speed cover.
Not complaining too much, I'm getting all of them anyways :)

I still don't understand why then can get a master of welcome home, with claudio re-recording the vocals ,for the whore in sheeps clothing ****ing up all I do, but can't get the master for ten speed. Any HMX people want to will me in on thisÉ

One enduring fact of any Guitar Hero/Rock Band game.... The biggest fans of a band will always be the ones most disappointed by their covers.

although claudio sanchez is hard to impersonate, i honestly don't think the cover is as bad as you are making it out to seem.. nothing will beat the master track though, but i still think this will be a pick up for me

Really, hard to impersonate. But after hearing this song litterally hundreds of times and seeing it live at least 6, it is had to get used to not hearing Claudio, the vocalist is singing to low. But it is still tolarable, unlike the Iron Maiden cover of The Trooper from Guitar Hero II, that was awful

I can understand why they could have had a master then a cover. If they recorded the drums separately in Welcome Home but didn't in Ten Speed, they'd need to re-record the whole thing. The guitar is fun, the bass is something I have been looking forward to but God, I don't think I'll ever be able to get over that guy's voice.

I felt like all in all it was a pretty decent cover

For what it's worth, I totally agree with you, Colby. They did a pretty good job on the song instrumentally, though the guitar tone is a bit off, but the vocals were just massacred. It was exactly what I feared. It would've been fine covered at a lower pitch than Claudio sings, that tone is hard to match, but this guy really took the song apart. I'm debating whether or not to buy this song because of it. Very disappointing.

I'll be buying it because it's fun to play and I'm not too picky about vocal quality.

Exactly how I feel, though I bought it before going out and listening to the cover on youtube or something first =\

I should mention, I guess, that this is the first cover song that I've listened to and thought, "What the hell?" Almost all of Harmonix's cover songs have been great. I'm a huge Rush fan and I think they've done a hell of a job with those songs. I just don't understand why they've been able to do a decent (if not dead-on) cover of Geddy Lee's vocals and then destroyed Claudio's. Those guys are pretty similar in style, after all. It just ain't right! =D

It's a decent cover. Give it a chance.

I was a little worried, but I think the cover is fine. It's obviously not Claudio, but I wasn't expecting a parrot. Thumbs up to the cover artist, he sounds a lot better than I do singing it.

This thread has me convinced that some fans will never be happy with a cover. This cover is spot on and I love playing it.

I know there's been a lot of talk about the fact that tenspeed is a cover, obviously we all like master tracks, and unfortunately I don't have any insight to offer as to why we couldn't get the tracks licensed... but it's a good cover, and most importantly it's a BLAST to play, so give it a shot.
anyway, just popping in to let you guys know that we're here and we appreciate you guys... back to writing charts...

I look at covers/master tracks the same way I do fast food/a home cooked meal:
There is nothing like a (insert your favorite homemade meal here) home made turkey dinner on thanksgiving... mashed potatos, gravy, cranberries... mmmm. It all has that special taste that is impossible to duplicate at any restaraunt, but sometimes I don't mind stopping at a Boston Market to get a turkey dinner on the way home. Yes it isn't the same quality, but it still tastes good, and triggers my memory of the superior home cooked version.
Yes I would love all master tracks, but if Harmonix happens to release a song from a band I really like and it is a cover, I'll still be happy because I'm getting a taste and it will only give me good memories about the original. Be happy your favorite band has a distinctive and hard to replicate sound.
There are only 2 things that could piss me off about a cover version:
1) It is done horribly bad in all phases and is unlistenable/playable (my take out meal is horribly burned and not edible). I have yet to see a cover this bad.
2) The cover end up being as good or better than the original. I'd give props to Harmonix to finding such a great cover version, but I'd lose a little respect for the original for it being so easily replicated (my thanksgivings wouldn't be as special). I have yet to see covers this good.
So I'll be happy to play/eat covers if it means I get a taste of something I really enjoy. I'd rather have a decent taste than not have it at all...
Keep up the great work Harmonix.

I guess I'm either crazy or too much of a snob. It's probably because that was really my first truly favorite Co&Ca song. But then again. I moved on to other stuff and it had been awhile since I listened to Ten Speed in awhile. So I suppose I should thank the cover's horrible quality of reminding me of my old love and returning me to it.

It's all really just a matter of opinion, and also what Apples said. The more hardcore fans are most likely to be disappointed. It varies from person to person about liking the cover, though, so it should be left alone. Better to have the song as a cover than not at all, and if you hate the cover, don't buy it. I personally don't Coheed being covered, but I'll buy it anyway.
 For Coheed live. Electric Factory with The Fall of Troy ftw.

Vocally, it's the worst of any cover yet.
It's the same guy who sung the RUSH and Sweet covers. We all know he isn't a good singer. He did manage to pull of the RUSH covers somewhat, but Claudio's range is too high for him. Worst cover yet and I regret purchasing it.

Yea, well I already bought it. Cause I wanted to see how it was. They did fine on guitar and bass, the two parts I was excited about. But that singer is distracting, he sounds bored throughout the whole song.

He's actually a remarkably good singer, you're just pissed off because he can't mimic Claudio. Like to see you do better.
You all need to stop being irate that you're not getting a carbon copy of the song(s) and realize that it can actually sound just fine (not as awesome as the original, but fine) performed by another artist. Think a bit before you make such sweeping judgments.
Very pleased with my purchase!

yea, (diehard coheed fan) i did a huge rant on the "Thank God the Ten Speed Sounded Good" thread of how everything sounded bad (the tone on the bass even)(although i cant complain on drums)
