I am going to try to predict/suggest a good Rock Band setlist. I assume, like many people, that there will be 40 main game songs. Unlike others, I do not think that there will be eight songs from each decade ('60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s). Harmonix has stated that they plan to use rock songs from the past forty years and will include some songs from each of those decades. I predict that there will be ten songs each from the following 'decades': 1967 - 1976, 1977 - 1986, 1987 - 1996, 1997 - 2006. With those assumptions, here are my choices (bold indicates a confirmed song):
1967 - 1976
The Beatles, Come Together
Black Sabbath, Paranoid
Mountain, Mississippi Queen
The Doors, Peace Frog
Derek and the Dominos, Layla
The Who, Won't Get Fooled Again
Led Zeppelin, Rock and Roll
Queen, Killer Queen
David Bowie, Sufferagette City
Blue Oyster Cult, Don't Fear the Reaper
1977 - 1986
The Ramones, Rockaway Beach
The Police, Roxanne
Van Hallen, You Really Got Me
AC/DC, Highway To Hell
The Cure, Boys Don't Cry
Ozzy Osbourne, Crazy Train
Rush, Tom Sawyer
U2, Pride
The Cult, She Sells Sanctuary
Bon Jovi, Wanted Dead or Alive
1987 - 1996
Metallica, Enter Sandman
Nirvana, In Bloom
Pearl Jam, Alive
Smashing Pumpkins, Cherub Rock
Stone Temple Pilots, Vasoline
Weezer, Say It Ain't So
The Cranberries, Zombie
Bush, Machinehead
Green Day, Welcome To Paradise
Better Than Ezra, Desperately Wanting
1997 - 2006
Foo Fighters, Learn To Fly
3 Doors Down, Kryptonite
The Hives, Main Offender
Queens of the Stone Age, Go With the Flow
The Strokes, Reptillia
Sum 41, The Hell Song
Staind, So Far Away
Shinedown, Save Me
Flyleaf, Fully Alive
Breaking Benjamin, Breath
Let it be known, I am a fan of modern rock. Predictably, I had difficulties coming up with songs for the first two 'decades'. If you think that my song choices are poor, you're probably right. Conversely, I had difficulty limiting the number of modern songs to twenty; I would love to have more. Of course, your comments are welcome.

Rev0lver, what Van Hallen song would you recommend?
Let me defend my 'mainstream' choices that I suspect you have a problem with:
3 Doors Down, Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down is another post-grunge band but it also features some Southern Rock influences and Kryptonite has excellent drumming and good guitar parts.
Sum 41, The Hell Song - I felt that pop-punk should be represented in this decade and The Hell Song is a perfect fit for Rock Band with great vocals and good drumming, bass, and guitar parts.
Staind, So Far Away - Staind is one of my favorite post-grunge bands so I wanted to get them in. I would probably be most willing to replace this song with Tool's Schism for variety.

So what if it's on MTV its crap.... yeah right
I'm getting tired of you morons who only think that what you listen to is the best music ever and everything else sucks. If you don't like the newer bands then just say they arn't your taste and move on no need to start calling everything you don't like s***
getting back on topic, great list I like most of it a couple songs I haven't heard but overall a good list and I hope most of it comes true!

I have to agree with the criticism of the newer songs. I really hope they don't pick all pop-rock stuff. There is actually a lot great newer music if you look hard enough.

i'm getting tired of you morons who think all newer bands are on MTV. 90% of the music i listen to is from the 2000's, its just not this untalented mainstream bull****.

Heres another one of these idiots who only follows bands no one even knows about and as soon as they get a little bit of fame they ditch them and dub them "Mainstream Crap" just because they were recognised as being good.

Pretty good setlist.
Comment time.
1967 - 1976
"Killer Queen" was in GH1, so probably won't happen.
1977 - 1986
"You Really Got Me Goin" was in GH2. A better bet would be "And the Cradle Will Rock..." or maybe even "(Oh) Pretty Woman". Van Halen does pretty good covers.
I'd really like an AC/DC song on the setlist, and I'm glad you included them.
"Crazy Train" would be amazing.
1987 - 1996
Needs work...
1997 - 2006
I think "Fly From the Inside" by Shinedown would be a better choice.
Overall, this section needs work...
Seeing as GH3 has a Dragonforce song, why not throw in "My Spirit Will Go On" into the 1997 - 2006 section? I think it's a better song than "Through the Fire and Flames" and would be pretty good for Rock Band.
OK, I'm done. :D

im not sure about every1 else but i would suggest fury of the Storm by Dragonforce as the very last song like Free Bird was in GH2

I would love to see that setlist in the final version. Personally, I'd rather hear "Fly From the Inside" instead of "Save Me" by Shinedown, though.
