EPIC FAIL

it's been like a few months since i really played (more than 3-4 songs). Played like 12-15, sucked complete ass, and now my hands hurt. I better start rebuilding the unbreakable hands i had in my guitar hero playing prime.

Teehee I kept checking to see what song you were playing.

Well I finally got my disc fixed so I finally finished expert, five starred nearly all hard songs, and trying to kick the bucket again. HOW'D I DO IT THE FIRST TIME!?!

I was going to make a thread on this! I was at my friends party yesterday, played Guitar Hero 2 for the first time in a few months. I was getting 3 stars and stuff on Expert. Actually failing songs. It was pathetic.

Yeah, I didn't have months off, but it was a few weeks and I was just failing all over the place.. which isn't good since I was already pretty ****-house on Hard difficulty anyway

Put a few hours of concentration into it and I kinda got it back.. but it still felt too much like I was button mashing my way through solos.. and when that's happening it seems more like you're playing Guitar Loser 2 instead

It's been a while since I played.. I hope I'm not that bad after my Xbox gets fixed.

I would have never stopped playing had it not stopped working.

Was the same for me.. I couldn't break out solos because my hands lacked the muscle. Few days of consistent playing and that was back to normal

P.S., there is a specific muscle in the left hand that is clearly strengthened and worked out by changing frets and such. Under the pinky finger, just above the wrist, on the side of the hand. Play a bunch, when it stops hurting, take a look at that muscle. It'll be hard as a rock and physically bigger and wider than the one on the right hand :p

I've noticed that I cant play the game at all if I've had a few too many wobbly pops, it used to be the same deal after I'd smoke a doobie too but I've since been able to concentrate on certain songs while baked (mainly songs I like).

I'm damn near as good at that game when I'm baked, but worse when drunk. Sober though I'll always surpass my intoxicated scores :p

Yea I never lost my skills because I never stopped playing. I'm pretty sure that is not a good thing though, I'm losing that tan

how is it that i can get 48% on jordan or whatever (the 48% of which is harder than bad reputation as a whole) and fail on one stupid song.............................................. ....

After beating GH2 on expert for PS2, I got it for 360 and I noticed that lag was an issue (I play on a LCD monitor) Adjusting the setting doesnt really help.

So I was failing on songs that you just shouldn't fail on. And from my experience all the solos are always just button mashing unless you take the time to go into practice mode.

I've only done that for Six (to get the timing down) and Jordan (because it's barely music)

i think the lag was fixed with like a couple of updates. i also remember the whammy bar not working right too, but once they made like 2 updates it was all good

You can adjust the lag via the in-game video menu but it doesn't really help. I usually set it to 24ms which is barely noticable, but it helps only a little.

I will probably have to buy a TV at some point if lag is going to be an issue with RB or GH3.

I beat every song on expert except for Free Bird, Six, and Jordan...and i got 5 stars on over half of the songs and mostly 4 on the rest...well, i havn't played in a MONTH because my guitar broke beyond repair (one of the prongs in the part that connects to the console bent and i have a short in one of the wires somewhere)...so I let my friend borrow my Guitar Hero 2 because all he has is the first one...then about 2 days ago I asked him if I can have my game back for a while and also borrow his controller...well I'm actually better now than before, I've beaten almost every one of my highscores and I've beaten a song or two that i couldn't before...

Anyways, what's your guys' favorite song on the setlist and on the bonus list? Mine is Hangar 18 and The Beast and The Harlot for the actual setlist and Push Push Lady Lightning, Gemini, and The Light That Blinds for the bonus list...you might think i'm crazy for choosing Gemini, because at first it sounds kinda ***, but once you actually play it, it's a blast...

there's already topics for this. but i'll agree with you on Gemini(although the fast chord changes can be hard as ****).

I wouldn't say I actually stopped playing, but I wouldn't say I really played it hardcore either. I think the first day I got it I played it more then the last 4 months combined. I pick it up when I'm bored or feel like playing, after hearing a few songs on Sirius from the GH setlist, makes me want to pick it up (I was going to give up on Expert until I heard a live version of Free Bird - got me pumped again).

I tried Jordan twice, and I think I'm about to forget about that. Also I think the 500 note streak and 5*'in hard and expert are probably never going to get done.

I didn't get the game but not too long ago, so i'm still trying to beat hard. 5 starred Med and Easy and just opened up the second set on Expert.

Stuck on Carry me home (hard), last song i've got to beat save Free Bird.

Never learned to hammer on, alternate strum, so trying to re-teach myself how to play the game.

HO/PO's take a bit to get used to, feeling weird when you don't have to strum. Alt strumming may take awhile as well.

There are a few tricks youll find when making your way through expert that will change your whole outlook on playing.

How is the real way to alt strum? I just grab on to the strum bar with two fingers, and it goes pretty fast. I can go too fast sometimes, and when I'm playing Misirlou I lose notes for going ahead. :/

If you're having a hard time getting used to alt. strumming, try starting out by just pressing your thumb into the guitar. This'll get you enough resistance to do up-and-down, as well as get you started in the motion of alt. strumming.

I can't get past Crazy On You or Freya on expert, and they're my last ones in that tier.

I still Play GH1, 2, and 80's at least once a day and I never get bored...well, maybe a little bit.:p So, I'll take a break for like an hour, and then be ready to play again. I have taken breaks for trips and such before for like 3 weeks and when I start again, I have to work my way back up to where I was, but I never go below expert. I feel if I keep playing, I'll only get better and I'll be ready to take on RB and GH3. I still love all of the GH's, but, I think I'm subconsciously trying to pass time by for RB by playing GH a lot. I dunno. :)
