Make no mistake, it's an actual product. Like the website said, it'll be for about $100.

Now, for a description.

For those who want to know what it will include, it will come with

1. A smoke machine

2. A strobe light

3. Some multicolored light flasher with controller inputs on them. (this is the reason why they're making the stage kit for both consoles)

For now, I don't know the purpose of the controller inputs on the multicolored light flasher. This could be for the vocalist, as it would be an adequate replacement for a standard controller.

The box said it'll be available this summer.

I'll post pictures tomorrow.

This is over a months old news. If you had search for it first you had found several posts about this.

Does the box specify what method is used for the smoke machine?

I'm suspecting it's dry ice myself, but just curious if it mentions.

Ha, I love this. Hopefully it will come with a mic stand...and a plastic cowbell :D...anyways.

I will defiantly buy this...it will be fun at partys and would be a real blast for a public display. :)

I don't think there is any chance I'll drop $100 on this. I mean I guess it's a cool concept, but imo it's overkill.

it does definately go overboard, and not just a little. it might be cool the first or second time u use it, but will you get 100 bucks worth of enjoyment? prob not.
still im undecided.

Doesn't going overboard make it all the more important and necessary in Rock Band? :)

It's more likely that it uses that liquid that the Halloween smoke/fog machines use. Dry ice isn't something the average person would know where to obtain.

This kit is an amusing idea but I've got no use for it here - and the last thing my asthma needs is a smoke machine.

That's the point!

My father always said (translates bad from german):

If you really have to start sh*t, then let it be big time sh*t.

So, if you run around with a plastic toy guitar, let there be smoke and lights!

Hear ya on the asthma, hoping the components are seperatable, as I don't need to have a smoke machine going off in my apartment, just curious.

Hmm, good point on the halloween smoke machines. But, umm, ok, maybe it's just where I am, but our grocery stores have dry ice...

And I just figured out why our grocery stores have dry ice, it's helpful for portable refigeration when hunting. Ok that makes sense. So my area is just a tad bit abnormal :).

Yeah, it seems totally overboard, but that is why I will be getting it. Not for everyday use, but definitely for parties where so far, Rock Band has been a hit in my house.

I guarantee that it won't be used with dry ice.

Dry ice can be surprisingly dangerous.

Don't believe me? Take a 2-liter bottle with a little bit of water in it, drop in a couple chunks of dry ice and close the cap tight... BOOM!

Your area is not abnormal, where I live our grocery store stock dry ice. It not uncommon in many big stores. With that said I dont think its going to be dry Ice as that is dangerous. Also you have to be 18 to buy I belive and as rock band is a game I'm guessing the target audience are under 18.

Heh, the grocery store I go to has it right next to the self-checkout, somewhat amusing.

Just hopefully the solution will be generic enough that we're not dependant on "Rock Band Smoke Machine Pellets(tm)". Would be nice to actually be able to use the prop after the game's popularity fades away for the next big thing.

Yeah, that smoke machine would prob onlly get used twice, for like a big party. But the strobe colored lights, I would use it so much that my neighbors would swear I have a rave happening in my apartment 4 times a week. Man, it appeals to my nerd and geek side also, so ROCK ON!

...and as rock band is a game I'm guessing the target audience are under 18.I love it when the general public/media/law makers assume that games are for kids only.

I'll be placing my order for this as soon as I can.

Yeah spending that much for a game = no life.

Im all over the strobe lights, ESPECIALLY if they are incorporated with what is happening on screen....smoke machine not so much.

If the Lights are synched up with the game then it could be a REALLY cool prop.

Just for the people who say it's over the top.

...its for parties... :)

I don't think I'd use this playing solo...

We get together with friends at least once a week for four-player RB action... Including the occasional 12-hour marathon. If I could afford it, I would totally throw down for this, but the budget right now doesn't allow for this level of luxury. I guess I'm just not ready to live the high life of a true rock star yet...

LOL, no kidding. I am willing to bet that the average age of a player in this game is well over 18.

I am not saying that younger people don't play Rock Band, but what I am saying is there are a lot of older players out there too. And seeing as how they generally have deeper pockets than say, a 16 year old, I would think that is your target market here.

I'm personally all about this and will get it when it comes out. My reasoning? I'm trying to set up Rock Band nights at local bars around here and this would be awesome for making fools feel like rock stars.

Hrm. Actually, that label's a little concerning.

"Create a customized stage show manually" hopefully does not mean "Doesn't come with any per-song presets that automatically fire off the color / strobe / smoke according to game cues". If I gotta go and track my own FX for every damn song, forget it. I want a plug and rock solution here.

"Effects intensify the tighter you jam" is less lousy, but still, eh. I'd rather the thing just rock out without having to maintain a mega-combo.
