View Full Version : End of song-jamming problem...

I saw the video of all the HMX guys playing "Welcome to the Jungle" and got a thought in mah head.

With the inclusion of the little "jam-mode" you get at the end of each song, wouldn't that give the scorehero guys problems?

Think of it this way:
You've got your band signed onto the scorehero Rockband leaderboards (future, lawlz), going for a new score on a song. Let's just say that EVERY one of your band members FC's this song, and then you get to the end jam thing...

Here's the problem, once bands start FCing songs, wouldn't the scorehero boards rely on how fast you just wail away on the end-jam? Cause I mean, sure, you could play it true and make it sound good, but since the points would matter, cant you just hold (example) the green button on the guitar and strum as fast as you can, same for bass, have the singer scream as long as they can, and just let the drummer slap crazily at a tom or something? You'd get more notes for that then to just play the ending fun-ish-sounding.

Thanks for reading.

I don't think ScoreHero will support Rock Band. They are all Guitar Hero 3 biased and any time someone brings up Rock Band, everyone on that site starts saying how Rock Band sucks and Guitar Hero 3 will be 10000x better. I hate ScoreHero and their community.

We don't don't know how the scoring works for the end jam parts. For all we know it could just give you a set number of points per measure as long as you're playing, without even taking the speed of your playing into account. Kind of like how the freestyle sections of frequency and amplitude worked.

Don't be so ignorant!

Anyway, to answer the OP's question, in previous HMX games with freestyle (Amplitude and Frequency), you only get generic "points per measure" as long as you did ANYTHING in that measure. I really hope they don't make it "strum as fast as you can for awesome points." I think the end jam could end up sounding really cool and "strum as fast as possible!" will ruin how it actually sounds, imo.

If you do some searching through the forum history, the free-form jam feature has been discussed on these lines before.

For the record, I don't think it's a relevent to let some niche website dictate how a major feature works. If Rock Band ends up catering specifically to the scorehero crowd, we're all in trouble. (especially seeing that the site is now firmly in Neversoft's back pocket)

I agree with that, the guitar hero forum community is really terrible and mean spirited.

Anyways on to the real question at hand. This is an interesting point you bring up, and I can certainly see a potential problem. The thing is we don't exactly know how the free-form stuff works, and it is possible that it wont just be able mashing notes, another solution is for the entire time you are playing it, your points go up, and it isn't due to how slow or fast you are playing, but just due to the fact you are playing, this would be an easy solution and would cause everyone to get the same amount of points during the free-form section jam at the end.

Also, that video was from a very very early version of the game. Obviously, the song is not announced, probably not even included, in the game.

We also have not seen the free form jamming in the end of a song at all in any song since that video.

We've seen played in videos so far: Paranoid, Main Offender, Suffragette City, Wanted: Dead or Alive, Learn to Fly, and probably other songs I can't think of, and I don't recall ever seeing that freestyle jamming at the end of any of those songs.

Although, maybe that comes into play if the song is an encore song during the World Band Tour mode or something.

As for scoring, it probably all still gets included. No different than using the whammy bar, and getting the most out of Star Power to boost your score. If you wanna top the charts, you better be able to freestyle like crazy!

Wait, I haven't watched in a while, but doesn't the jam happen at the end of paranoid?

EDIT: yea it does, look at the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYbj5oR4VFA

Even still, you can't get more star power by whammying harder or differently. There is a set amount you can get simply by having it activated. If they let you get more points for more notes I'll just hold down all 5 buttons and strum rapidly. I do think there will be a max amount you can get, otherwise it'll have to be a really ingenious way to score higher on different parts

Ahh good eye! Alrighty then, I'd guess it would have to be what I said before maybe. Encore songs have them at the end? Who knows.
