Rock Band has been a complete dissappointment for me. Even after sticking it out and waiting for replacement hardware, I'm still not happy. In fact, I'm right furious.

It started out with me buying the game, and absolutely enjoying it for a week right before christmas. To gear up for my cousins coming over, I purchased all the download content available right before christmas.

The day before christmas, as I was trying to finish one of the last songs on HARD, my drum pedal snapped. OH SNAP. No Rock Band multiplayer for christmas... oh well at least we can play guitar and sing. Yeah right. After a few songs on expert, the guitar starts double strumming and makes it infuriating to play.

I won't even get into the replacement process for Canada, we all know it sucked.

A few weeks later I get fed up waiting and use an epoxy/duct tape solution to fix my drum pedal. It looked terrible, but I was playing the drums again. Not even a day later, my yellow pad stops working completely. OH NOES! At this point, I'm waiting for three replacement parts on warranty, so everything goes in the corner and I wait.

New equipment finally arrives. I get a new guitar with the magnetic strummer. Nice. After a few songs I realize that it's not registring some strums. Looking in to it, I determine that when strum two notes close together realy fast, the guitar doesn't ever register the second strum. ZING! Oh well, I change my playing to feature UP/DOWN strumming and I'm back in business! Oh wait, am I activating overdrive? No, the guitar is. GREAT. Random overdrive activation on this guitar as well.

Back to the drums. Get the new drums set up... continue where I left off in career mode. Hmm... now that I'm playing the harder songs, It only took a few days before the new drum pedal snapped in half.

I called tech support and they recommended getting on youtube and fixing the guitars myself. PASS. For the drum pedal, they said to buy a reinforcing plate for the pedal. PASS. How about YOU GUYS fix it?

This game is awesome. The instruments are garbage. I don't want to play it any more. I want my money back.

SERIOUSLY. I just gave the game anoter chance and the RED PAD on my kit is now missing notes. I just tested it on a song with a long intro and it's definately boned. THIS GAME IS SO AWESOME.

And I think it bugs me even more since the XBOX achievements are eating away at my soul. "Get 100% notes hit on any song on expert" MY FACE.

we all have problems id like to think mine are worse but i dont try to complain to people who cant solve them
the store won't let me return it, as i waited to long trying to get ea to fix it.

ea won't help me because they're still pushing out crap product. the phone support won't help me, told me to fix the game myself... the game i paid for... that didn't have a sticker on the box that said "defective merchandise, but you can fix it yourself".

what's left. if i want to vent my anger on a public forum, why not? there's something seriously wong with the instruments, and ea should fix it. others have to be having the same problem as me.

ea is LUCKY there are fix-it-yourself methods available, and that the game is so good people are willing to do this instead of complain and get replacements.

i don't want to fix my instruments myself. that's my call.

How the hell do you people keep breaking the damn pedals? I play expert, and have had the same pedal since I got the game. Are you guys

A) Slamming down REALLY hard to register kick notes?

B) Wearing shoes while playing?

Bummer about the other stuff though, but don't expect a refund.

Seriously - we (my wife and I) started our band with the drummer, so I've had to play drums every single song (which is sort of a stupid design decision, but that's another subject), AND I've played several tiers of songs on solo tour for drums, and everything still works great. I have to think that if you're having these kinds of problems, you're playing the drums WAY TOO HARD.

I don't know, the first pedal snapped while I was playing Detriot Rock City on HARD. The second one snapped while playing Don't Fear The Reaper on EXPERT. I'm pretty sure I have my technique correct as I've been playing the (real) drums for 12 years now.

heres the problem, they make a game that has drums.... since when do you hit drums lightly? Great game in all but extremely poorly designed controllers. For $200 I expect a $3 piece of metal where you foot goes on the kick pedal and for all of my hits to respond no matter how hard i hit it. I think its safe to say Harmonix had no drummers actually design this product. My kick pedal has a crack in it, I only put pressure on the top of the pedal when I'm playing. You should never make a drum set out of plastic, game designers should know by know that gamers get very into the games. I refuse to buy anymore Harmonix related products unless I know they took the time to design their product properly... beats me how all this stuff got by quality control. I thought the massive delay on the Canadian release was due to them fixing their product, guess they had some other reason.

You're right. When playing a slow beat, I keep my heel on the base of the pedal and push down lightly. This method is fine.

When the beat is fast and there are multiple kicks in a row, my heel comes up and I push down using the entire force of my leg. This method uses the spring in the pedal to return my leg/foot to the sitting postion, not my muscles. It's this method that puts pressure on the middle of the pedal and snaps it.

I also find it very hard to believe QA didn't break it.

Hey buddy ya know why your pedal keeps breakin????
CUZ YOUR NOT PLAYING IT RIGHT ******!
Mine still hasnt broken and Ive had it since launch, its probly because I play drums in real life.

Keep your foot depressed on the pedal when your not playing a note, then when a note is about to hit lift up your foot and keep it down again. YOU DONT HAVE TO SLAM YOUR FOOT DOWN EITHER

OMG YOUR RIGHT! I MEAN YOU'RE RIGHT! ******!

Actually, if you press the drum pedal exerting force anywhere on the pedal besides right on or below the spring, it creates a pressure point in between the top half of the pedal and the spring.

That's why the pedal breaks. Maybe you have munchkin feet or something and you can't reach the top of the pedal. I don't know. But like you I can assume you have munchkin feet just like you assumed I don't know how to use a kick pedal.

TTYL MUNCHKIN FEET.

Fix your own guitar or quit cryin

Yeah, my drums broke, but guess what, I am so mechanically inclined and devised a unique engineering method to tackle my pedal problem.

first i took my bicycle shoes (the ones that clip on for road touring) and disassembled my drum pedal and stuck the magnet on my shoe. then place my foot inside it and proceeded to drum away like nothing happed. plus side is i can wake away with my pedal or even adjust my foot anyway i wish as well as go biking with my drum pedal!

for those without a bike shoe with clips, just purchase a few permanent magnets ( the super strong ones) and super glue them to the bottom of any ol' shoe you wish to dedicate to the drum set.

As for the strat, I said ix-nay to the send back, i will cannibalize the electronics out of it, solder in a gh3 strummer (or magnetic one) install this into a real solid body guitar and wire up my custom neck with good buttons.
But of course i shall make this wired/ wireless provided people want to see me put this baby to action and wanna buy it. as for the whammy bar, i got a great way for hookin' up a real one in the stock location on the guitar and making that functional.

Pics will be up soon hopefully. cherrios
