While I know I may get some complaints about this. Though I would like to think my general taste in music is somewhat limited to the mainstream and bands that everyone has heard of... so here they are.. ill try to keep it to little overplayed songs
Black Sabbath - The Wizard , Hole in the sky, Electric Funeral
Metallica - Trapped Under Ice , Harvester of Sorrow.
Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Good
AC/DC - Thunderstruck, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.
Pantera - Walk, Its God Damn Electric
Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss, Raining Blood
The Black Mages - One Winged Angel (Advent Children Version)
Nickelback - Dimebag tribute Song
White Zombie - More Human than Human
System of a Down - Deer Dance
Golden Earring - Radar Love
Iron Maiden - Hollow be thy name, Aces High, Number of the Beast.
Megadeth - Crush 'Em, Holy Wars, 99 ways to die
Led Zepplin - Black Dog
Queen - Stone Cold Crazy (or the metallica version of it)
Holocaust - Small hours
Diamondhead - am I evil?
Mistits - Die, Die my darling.
I think that is about everything.. some of those are just self explainatory. Though I am sure most of you noticed that metallica covered allot of those songs, but I think some of the originals are in fact better. I had some more to list but quite a few of them are making it on the guitar hero 3 game.. making both a must buy it would seem
I tried to pick them as I could see them play out in my head, the fact of the matter is allot of people just pick allot of songs they love listening too.. but songs most love listening too wont necessarily translate well into something that would play good.
And tried to pick things with good solos or at least fast paced and not horribly boring to play.
