View Full Version : A work around for the mic lag.

Here is what I did early on to fix the vocal part of the game.

I took an old stereo preamp and amp that was used pre-dolby 5.1, and just lying around, and wired it into the entertainment center, next to the main surround system, and placed a couple of small JBL bookshelf speakers placed next to the TV.

I went to Radio Shack and picked up a rca to female stereo headphone jack adapter, then a stereo to mono adapter plugged into it, plugged it to the aux input of the old preamp, plugged a standard mic (I used a Shure PG-58) into it, cranked up the volume, and voila, no delay or echo on the vocals.

I then took the Rockband mic, and the other mic and mounted them both onto the mic stand next to each other.

I turn down the Rockband mic volume all the way, and left Dolby 5.1 surround on.

Now, I have my dolby 5.1 surround sound, and the vocals coming from a center channel, where they belong, clean, crisp, and LIVE.

The Rockband mic is only used for the score registering.

Works fantastic.

If anyone has an old reciever and speakers lying around collecting dust, this is a great workaround for the incompetence of the programmers.
