looking at all the other big name titles...such as:
SSBB
SMG
Assassin's Creed
Bioshock
Crysis
Halo 3
Metroid Prime Corruption
Half Life 2: Orange Box
Ratchet and Clank
Army of Two
.....Guitar Hero III
All having solid release dates. With Holiday season 2007 right around the corner if Harmonix had a release date.. they would have announced it.

Dont sweat it. According to the many blogs, and Rock Blogs, they're almost done. In one of the blogs, they were, quote, "In the Home Stretch". And according to Rock Blogs, they only had to work out a few bugs. Then, it's off to the last stage of Testing, then it's shipped out!
All the others have release dates because they worked out every single bug they could find. The games are basically done. They are just in the hardcore testing stage, where they try EVERY SINGLE combination of moves/actions in the game that would lead up to a glitch.

I hope so... at E3 they were still using prototype instruments... hasn't even been a month since then.

I remember Kojima played SSBB a few months back and said that if they shipped it right there, it would still sell amazingly. Rock band seems like a much simpler beast to test than stuff like SSBB, HL2:Ep2, and Halo 3. I have faith that they'll release before Thanksgiving, but I really hope they can make enough product so they can release it right on top of GH3. That'd be sweet to see.

Agreed 100%. I mean, to be honest, Rock band just isn't as complex as the others. I mean, I remember trying to get some Super Smash Bros Melee glitches to work. It was like "Jump, then move to the left three steps, get on the wall, fall 2 feet, do an Up+B attack, etc. etc." There just isnt as much in Rock Band. So if anything, it'll come out sooner than expected.

I honestly can't believe that people have discovered SSBM glitches... Like the Samus extended-grapple trick is absolutely ridiculous to pull off timing-wise (at least for me). Hopefully most of the Rock Band bugs will be caught and eliminated quickly.

Oh man, could you imagine what a blow to GH3 that would be. Here we are wondering why Rock Band is doing nothing to combat the recent song announcements and hype that GH3 is gaining, but what if this whole time they just know they're gonna bump up their release date to match GH3. Check. Mate.
hoo-hoo that'd be awesome...

Yeah, I always felt the silence about Rock Band's content that HMX is doing compared to what Activision and Neversoft are releasing for GH3 is just HMX doing the whole kung-fu master shtick. Just stay cool and calm while they throw out all their blows and when they're tired, beat the ever-loving **** out of 'em with all your crazy ****.
Oh, you can just taste the smack about to be laid down by Harmonix.

Why are you guys making it such a competition? Do you honestly think people will base their purchase of RB vs. GH3 on which comes out first?
Many people will buy both, some will only buy one currently and have already made their decision based on whatever factor is important to them.

As seen by the 80's expansion, the clamoring for DLC songs, and success of GH2, people are hungry for more songs. If the rhythm fan base if hungry for something new, being the first to offer it would be a sales advantage.
Mind you, myself and others have already decided to get both, but I'm sure it applies to a certain segment of the fanbase that they'd take the first one they can get.

As much as I want to play Rock Band earlier, coming out on the same day as GH3 would be a bad idea. I don't have $300 to blow all at one time in the middle of the week. I can manage if the game are a week apart but not the same day. And some people that were planning on getting both will probably feel the same way.
And I'd go into EB Game and they'd look at me like I was a freak getting Rock Band and GH3 and carrying two huge boxes out of there. I'd like to at least get halfway through one of the games before the other comes out.

I don't think in the long run it will matter who is released first. After 6 months most people will have both. But to get the first rush of money it would be cool it RB came out first. I like:
GHIII is coming out Oct. 28. RB is coming out the first week of Oct. BAM take that GH. That would be great just great.

Heheh...I like how the title of this post implied there might be a delay, and now we've bumped up the release by a month or more....hooray wild speculation!!!

Instruments have been tweaked and finalized, setlist completed, and bugs are being slain. All is as it should be.
In fact Alex said DLC is even ready to launch.
What bugs me is in his IGN interview he said they're still adding features and brainstorming more.

If the rock band guitars work with GHIII then I could get a garunteed 2000 more gamerscore this winter...

I don't know if I would expect this game to ship in October, but I could be wrong. According to Gamestop, it will ship on 11/20/07 so I'm HOPING it's not that late but you never know.

I wonder if the GH2 practice glitch carried over into RB. I doubt it but I hope it was already fixed otherwise they may have to set aside sometime to fix it.

Personally, I feel it concerning that the blogs have had little to nothing regarding the game itself. When you invest all of your time in a project, there's always this feeling of "I have to tell someone something!"
Even if there were NDAs on Rock Band due to Guitar Hero III, it'd be nice to know about the options and online experience you can't get on GHIII.

This is a type of game they cant afford to delay past the holiday seasom. They just cant.

I would prefer that Rock Band and Guitar Hero III's release dates were slightly apart. I wish success for both games and hope that neither game gets "blown out of the water."

True, this isn't exactly a hard game to make, its pretty basic. Its just 5 different buttons on a track that you have to hit when it comes across the line. The singing thing is different, but Harmonix has already done singing games, so its no big deal for them. It is going to be extremely fun, but that doesn't mean it was hard to make. Plus, they said it was done, Harmonix seems like a group of good dudes if you ask me. After all, they are making the second most exciting game ever (for me, Halo 3 takes #1).

Neither will be blown out of the water. Definitely not RB. GHIII seems like its going to have a great setlist for the guitar and bass and RB looks like pure fun. If anything GHIII won't make as much a profit as RB, but its practically the same company anyway. All the green is going to Harmonix.

Seems like GHIII will sell pretty well due to brand recognition. Those of us who follow the industry know that Harmonix made GH I & II, but the average consumer has no clue. Most of my friends who play video games don't keep up on game news like I do. When I mentioned Rockband in a conversation last week it was the first they had heard of it. My prediction is that GHIII sells well off the bat, but then Rockband will start to gain momentum. They may both sell well and I hope they do, competition will keep both companies doing their absolute best. My opinion.

There aren't NDAs on Rock Band due to Guitar Hero, there are NDAs on Rock Band because it is a video game that hasn't been released yet. It's totally normal for developers to be unable to comment on the product (not to mention too busy to).
All of this baseless speculation is just stupid and annoying.
