THe Police song Message in the bottle for GH II was a cover, the version on Rock Band is a master! I myself am glad to know that Harmonix can getmasters of songs that were previously covers.

I noticed it, I just didn't think it was worth posting about. Especially since that schedule from OXM is subject to change. It makes sense that it would be a master since the other four Police songs are.

Not to mention that GHII was indeed by Harmonix, and also that in GHIII, they have the master of Number of the Beast but Harmonix was unable to get the master track for Rock Band. It just all depends on stuff that no one but the higher-ups in the companies know.

Plus, wasn't Synchronicity II a cover in GH80's? It's a master in the Police pack :)

That doesn't really surprise me at all, considering GH2 only had what, like 2 master tracks? Well, 2 on PS2, 4 on X360.

(Not counting the bonus songs, of course)

No, that's because the drums were mixed down to 2 tracks on NotB, so the masters were unusable for Rock Band. Don't you people ever read other threads on here? We've been over this multiple times already :)

From HMXJohnlok himself:

"You may have seen the following attributed to a "…spokesperson from MTV Games / Harmonix," as our official press comment:

"The calendar of Rock Band DLC for March 2007 printed in the latest
issue of OXM is a tentative schedule and subject to change. Please stay
tuned for confirmation of Rock Band DLC closer to their release."

To give you a bit of additional insight: our DLC schedule is tentative for a number of reasons. As we've noted before on the forums, there are a lot of moving parts to get into place before we're ready to mix, author, animate and submit songs to be certified. Each stage in the process can have its kinks that can delay tracks from week to week for a myriad of reasons.

With all of these factors in play, we try to wait until we're absolutely sure that a track is good to go before we spread the good word amongst the forums. While the schedule released by OXM includes a variety of tracks that are currently being worked on by our development team, we need to remind everyone that our internal list can and will change (daily even) until the songs are certed and approved by Sony and Microsoft. Unless you hear it here from a member of the HMX community team (myself, Sean, HMXJohnD), assume that things are unconfirmed rumors.

We're committed to putting out really well done tracks that everyone can enjoy. Keep an eye on the forums for updates and we'll let you know what tracks are coming out as soon as it's possible. We'll be sticking to a weekly update in the coming month, so check back on Monday!"

It's been stated before that this has to do with the way that the master was recorded. In some instances, TNOTB for example, due to the way it was recorded, it was easy to use the Master Guitar track for GH because all that was required was the guitar track.

However, for RB, the master may have been available for use, but, due to the way it was recorded, it was not possible to use the master for all 4 instruments, so a cover was necessary. I've read that it has something to do with guitars, bass, vocals, and every single piece of equipment used for the drums (snare, hi-hat, toms, etc) has to be recorded on it's own in order to use the complete master for RB.

Ugh, I'll try to find a thread in which this was discussed...
