Actually, I believe they represent fills.

EDIT: In response because it's specific colors, whenever you do a fill, it has to end with the Green. You'll always see a green note at the end of a fill basically. It's a crash cymbal, so it fits perfectly to the ending of a fill.

what line's? The red yellow blue and green lines you see represent fills, or sections where you can play whatever the hell you want.

Those are fills, like a few people have said before me, the green notes at the end are how each fill ends, and basically you play whatever little freestyle fill you want during that barred section, and end on the green, this initiates the drums version of star power.

As for why there are only 4 button spots this is because there are only 4 drum pads, the 5th button, is actually the pedal. And there are only 3 lines because the 4th is reserved for that last green note I believe.

So this means the crazier the fill is, the more star power you get?

It's really tough to say, because in multiplayer I don't believe there is an actual Star Power Meter, you either hit the string of notes or fills, or you don't.

Because in Multiplayer mode, I believe, Star Power is not used so much as a bonus to points, but more just to do the saving for teammates?

I could be entirely wrong, but I think for example, the guitarist failed out, the drummer has a fill coming up, as long as he does anything in that fill, and finishes with the Green, he can save back the guitarist.

Or, if the drummer failed, the guitarist has a Star Power string of notes coming up, as long as he hits them all, it will instantly bring back the fallen teammate. No need to make sure you have "enough" star power, just that you hit the full sequence of "star power notes."

As for Single Player, I think there will be a Star Power Meter that you fill up to boost your multiplier just like you would in GH.

Hope that makes sense.

do you think there will be a part of the game where the drums, guitar/bass, or vocals can do these "fills" for as long as you want? I'd like to be able to practice my fills so I can do really sweet "riffs/fills" while I play!

No (not that I know for certain or anything, but it would make more sense to me this way) I think it is just a set amount of time, like in GH, no matter how many notes were part of the star power phrase you still got that same quater of your star power meter filled up.

No, on a few videos all lines are highlighted, but it ends in green. Remember, some pads count as more than one drum pad or cymbal.

Yea, I thought I saw one with all the lines highlighted. I'm gonna go ahead and guess that for the one with red yellow and blue, those are the only ones that can be hit during that particular fill. But ones with all the lines highlighted, each one could be hit. It will still end in a green, but that doesn't mean that the green one can't be hit prior to that. It will probably sound like a crash cymbol, as it was said before, then it will still end in a crash cymbol.

mehehe. That picture of the new interface makes me excited for Rock Band. I am super excite!

About the "fill" sections...I'm not so sure how those work yet.

Yea but that means you can just hit the drums once and then hit the ending crash cymbol for star power. You probably need to hit it a set amount of times.

If I were to make a guess, you have to sub-divide the strokes of the fill evenly, and fit as many of them in as you can while keeping time, and end it perfectly.

Maybe each stroke represents about a millimeter of star power juices?

It could be done like that, but a lot of the time fills aren't just constant 16th/32nd notes. Most of the time they have some eighth notes in there too.

I can't think of a good way to make sure the drummer is playing in time during the fill. They could make it so that as long you play in 16th note sub-divisions (meaning you just play quarter notes, eighth notes, and 16th notes), you're okay, but then you wouldn't be able to play 32nd notes, triplets, or flams

My guess is that the game won't care whether you're in time or not, you just need to hit the cymbal at the end.

yea i think you'll be able to do what you want, if theres no flams allowed then the fill we be semi boring

bah, that'll take all the fun out of it. I sure hope there's some kind of twist about it, something that none of us can guess toward.

The surprise will actually be that one of the Rock Band bundles will ship with a blank ticket, one that can be used toward a front row seat of any concert you choose.

Haw.
