View Full Version : Fears of a Delay

I dunno about anyone else but I right now am starting to think that maybe there might be a delay on this game. There has been no NEW info lately. Sure there have been new videos and such but there hasn't been any new info since a while back.
Even though at E3 we saw the first couple of new songs being played we already knew about those songs being in the game. We havn't had any new info on even the basic things such as new songs. Features I can understand becuase they don't want to reveal everything or havn't worked all the bugs and don't want it to be official until it's ready.
I'm hoping this isn't the case as well as all of the other RB fans out there.

It could happen, delays are just part of life in software development. The game is feature complete according to Harmonix, so at this point it's just politics and QA.
Even if there is a slip I seriously doubt Harmonix/MTV would miss the holiday window. There's just too much money to be had there.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that we all saw how the Wii was not able to keep up with the demand of consoles and perifials and even GH1 had some trouble last year as well at one point. Didn't take them more then a month or so to recover but I have a feeling we'll all be playing with only our X-plorer guitars for a while.

E3 was about 3 weeks ago, that does not consitute awhile since there has been no new info.
They've already said the game is finished and is entering final testing stage. It won't be delayed.

I have not seen another pre-release game where the developers have been any more open and communicative than Harmonix has with Rock Band. Daily blog postings, IRC chats, a ton of pressers, and a consistent Harmonix presence in the forums have shown that they know how to do this.
Please don't 'reward' their efforts by whining about how there has not been enough information, and starting up stupid rumors that the game is going to be delayed until next year, or the PS3 version isn't coming out, or there are no wireless guitars for 360, or that Harmonix is blowing their development budget on coke and hookers.
I am very excited about the game, and I wish there was more information about accessory pricing. But I know that Harmonix knows that, because they have a strong community presence. I am not going to attempt to pressure them into releasing more information by starting false rumors about the bundles. It would be immature and counterproductive.
Harmonix is not going to come in here every day and repeatedly debunk every stupid, unsubstantiated rumor that gets thrown around in these forums. So let's focus our energies here on more interesting topics.
Edit: I changed my mind about the coke and hookers rumor. That actually sounds pretty cool. I'm going to start spreading that one.

QFT.
Everyone continually demands more info, song announcements, pricing, bundles, release dates, etc. Just give it time and we'll know all we need to know.
Besides, how is a game that's set to be publicly playable at an expo going to be delayed? They wouldn't let us average joe's play if it really was in early stages of the project.
As said before, the game is just in it's final stage of testing, making sure bugs and little tidbits of stuff are corrected.
I have full faith in HMX whether it's coming out Nov. 6th or Nov. 20th.

Actaully last friday a new interview was released on IGN. So that to me constitutes new info. Not all new info or content we get will be in the form of newly announced songs, actually those will most likely be in the minority, and spaced out the most. In that very same interview they talk about how they are very close to nearing completion of this game, basically just fixing some bugs and such. If anything we may be lucky enough to see this game come out earlier than intended. Besides all this, the exact release date is not known as of yet, so It would be hard for us to know if the game actually is delayed or not when the final release date is officially announced.

yes, there's definitely going to be a delay, especially when they already said the main parts of the game are done and they are dying to release it.

KEEP THE FAITH PEOPLE!!!!
It'll release on schedule. It's only been three weeks (albeit three LONG weeks) since the last chunk of info was released. And that was a big chunk 'o info. We'll get something solid at PAX.

Yeah, wait for PAX, there will likely be some announcements there.

As someone who works in QA at a game company, it can certainly happen. All the content can be in a game, but right when you're ready to submit you might find a major issue, and it has to be fixed. Look at Lair for the PS3, it had a mid-August release date. Now it's pushed to September.

I hope the practice mode glitch in GH2 didn't carry over to Rock Band. And if it did I hope they don't have to spend too much time fixing it.

The amount of info they release about the game is no indication of whether it will come out on time or not. We were getting new info on GTA 4 practically every other week from some magazine or another, and now that game isn't coming out until next year.
I will be shocked if this game isn't released on time (meaning November sometime).

Only info I care about is if the Bundle for the 360 is really going to be wired while the PS3 version is going to be wireless. I would really like to know this now so I can change my pre-order over to the PS3, if it's true.

Saying that RB is gonna be delayed is as certain as saying that Jesus is coming back tomorrow. Who the hell knows ?!?!?!

I honestly think that Harmonix is so stoked about this game that they want everyone to be surprised, and they are good at keeping secrets. It will release on schedule, I have a hard time believing that they lied about the finishing of the game, that would be ridiculous and uncalled for. I have faith in them, AND this game isn't really a game that would take a lot of time to make, maybe some time but compared to other video games this isn't as big a deal (for the making part of it), but for the gameplay... thats a different story. They already have the basics down, that's how it seems from watching all the videos, all they need is to touch up the game a little.
