Reel Big Fish
I know some of their first few albums and singles were very horns-heavy, and more Ska then Rock, but their last 3 albums have really evolved into more Rock then Ska, making for some good 4 piece action. Many people consider them kind of a joke band, but some of their tunes can be really fun.
My Picks:
Sell Out
Beer
Good Thing
Where Have You Been?
Don't Start A Band
Rob/White Zombie
We have already seen some of them in the GH series, and I certainly wouldn't mind some retreads. Black Sunshine is a great Bass song. While some may say vocals for Rob can be a bit challenging, it's definitely do-able, especially with the new speak-singing tech. His latest solo album, Educated Horses is prime for the 4-piece gig, as it is the least "electronic" of all his releases to date.
My Picks:
Thunderkiss '65
Black Sunshine
More Human Then Human (clean)
Blur The Technicolor (sick for drummers)
Electric Head Pt 1 and/or 2
Superbeast
Iron Head
Foxy Foxy
The Scorpion Sleeps
Garbage
More Garbage! 'Nuff said. Ok, maybe not. Garbage is good for female vocals, so our girlfriends can play while not losing anything in the drums or guitar. Especially when we see a European release (they are huge over there...well, bigger then they are here). Again, they can be very electronic in the early stuff, but as they progressed and tried to capture the energy of the live shows, they lost some of their electronic elements.
My Picks:
Heaven is Wide (real nice fuzz bass part, check it out)
Only Happy When it Rains
Push It
Cherry Lips (Go, Baby, Go)
Why Do You Love Me?
WWE Themes
Who thinks a WWE pack could be fun? Many of their newer themes these days are from real bands.
My Picks:
Triple H - King of Kings by Motorhead
Randy Ordon - Burn in My Light by Mercy Drive
Kane - Slow Chemical by Finger 11
Batista - I Walk Alone by Saliva
Random Songs and Artists
Lion - Transformers Theme
With the huge buzz coming off the movie, this one would be DLC gold! So much fun and nostalgic, if not a legendary song in the world of music. Licensing may be tricky, but I can dream.
SOTD - Chop Suey
A great party song, everyone knows it, and a bit more sing-song then some of their stuff. SOTD has been requested to death. I could make a list, but it would be a bit redundant. Though I will say Toxicity as a full album DL one day would not make me sad.
Weird Al
Maybe wishful thinking, as his parodies may pose some interesting licensing issues, but he does have many originals that are great, fun songs. Any self-respecting nerd can think of a few, and yes, nerds play Rock Band.
RAMSTEIN
Wow. Some sick guitar and drums, and you want to challenge your singer? Make him sing in German.
Dethklok (Matalocolypse)
We were teased with Thunderhorse in GH2, lets get some more. I'm sure they are more then happy to get some songs out there, and they are really connected with the online/gamer types.
Drain STH
Not a very well known band, but an excellent all-girl rock band. The vocals are less screamy then some girl-metal singers.
I could go on, but many of my favorites have already been requested to death like Tom Petty, Zeppelin, etc. Plus, some more heavy stuff would be nice. Even mainstream Neumetal would be ok, but our guitarist wants some metal, darn it!
Thanks for reading! I look forward to participating in the forums alot more, now that I've waded through alot of the posts from the past.
