View Full Version : Goodbye Beatles DLC!!!
http://ask.yahoo.com/20031210.html According to this Michael jackson bought 160 out of 260 beatles song rights. Jackson claims "The Beatles catalogue is not for sale, has not been for sale and will never be for sale". Goodbye DLC!! =[. And dont blame HMX for not trying to get MJ to be persuaded. I wouldnt even want to go 2 feet near the man/woman.

but what does this have to do with the song rights? as hurting as jackson is for money, it seems logical to grant the rights to another party for some money.
not to mention that leaves 100 songs that he doesn't own

"Sell" is not the same as "license."
I think there's still a chance.

Haha, if they've never been for sale, how did he buy them? What a hypocrite.
we could still get Love Me Do, but i doubt MJ will sell the songs to any company unless he goes bankrupt after deciding to ape another child actor. Theirs a slight chance, but this just makes it worse.

They called into question about him being in financial trouble from and article from 2003 where he said hes not broke and wont be selling the Beatles catalog.. It has nothing to do with licensing. Yeah I have never heard a Beatles song on a commercial.
If anything they say he is broke and this would be the best time to try and license the songs. He needs the cash.

Hey MJ's continuing health... In my opinion... is much more if-Y then pauls or ringos... Then again I see Jacko do weird stuff all the time... don't never see paul or ringo... dang...

The articles from late 2003...
I think not only is it possible, but it could-maybe-possiblly-hopefully happen in the sometime-not-so-near-but-kind-of-close-future.
I do know that I did just read somewhere that they were given the "Ok" to be used in commercials now, so if that happens, then anything is possible.

Notice that it's never the original recording of beatles songs you hear on commercials though. It's always a cover version. While I'm not exactly happy with the fact that Jackson bought most of The Beatles songs, I have to admit he's done a pretty good job of not completely selling them out. Even Led Zeppelin has allowed their song "rock and roll" to be used in a car commercial. I hate it when bands do this because it devalues the song.
Nevertheless, I do like it when they license their songs for games like rock band. I don't consider that selling out because the songs themselves are the product and not necessarily being used to sell something else.

the only way they could get any beatle songs at this point is if they were covers. they're not even available on itunes yet, and they are very expensive to get the rights from. that's why you don't usually hear any of their songs on compilations. it may be awhile longer before we get to download them legally.
true love me do, p.s i love you and please please me could be obtained, but they would not be very challenging.
