Mic works but doesn't produce vocals through speakers

Anyone else had this problem? It seems to have a short in it, but as far as the game goes, it seems to register everything right. I had the track vocals cranked all the way down and the mic vol. all the way up, but it only picked up sections of the vocals (ie. just like a short) Any tips or tricks to possibly fix this?

Turned out i broke the mic but was able to mod it so I could use a normal non usb mic I already had.

Thats not a similar problem at all. The cause of his problem is due to the fact that mostly all of the mic-fed vocals come out through the center channel of a surround sound setup. If for whatever reason you dont have center channel audio and the game is outputting surround sound, you will not hear your vocals no matter how much you turn up the mic-fed vocal setting.
