Guitar Doesn't Work

Just got the game today and the guitar does not even turn on (Xbox go Green). The drums work though?? What could be my problem

Even if you get a guitar that technically 'works' I think you will find that the design is seriously flawed. The problem is that the strum bar does not register every time you down strum... in fact during really fast rythym sections I find that it only registers 1/2 the downstrums. This can be tested quite easily by going to the main menu and downstrumming rapidly.. you will notice that the menu selection only moves for some of the strums.

I'm on my second guitar from Rockband (returned the first one through the Returns Process) and unfortunately it's even worse than the first one.

I own GHII (also made by harmonix) and the guitar is built wayyy better, in fact I never use the rockband controller anymore... it's just plain unusable.

What I don't understand is this: Both games are technically made by Harmonix, so why is the RockBand controller so flawed? Who designed this plastic peice of sh!t? For the love of God please tell me that they were fired...
