I have been reading about effect pedals for the guitar or bass in RockBand, like flange or wah-wah.

Are these extra accesories you have to purchase or what's the deal with that?

The effects you're talking about will come from the 5-way switch on the guitar controller. I believe you will be able to unlock, in-game, as bonuses or extra features a bunch of these sound effects. You will be able to alter the sound of the guitar during gameplay just for fun, it won't alter the actual gameplay or scoring at all.

I've never heard HMX say anything about it, but in all the conversations I've heard, everyone seems to be convinced that there won't be any effects for the bass.

Honestly, I think not having effects would just turn people off to the bass even more. Just having a higher multiplier isn't gonna really do much to draw people to it. Sure, effects won't get everyone fired up and clamoring to play bass, but it'd at least keep 'em from being utterly and completely bored.

So, has anyone read or heard whether or not they're putting effects on the bass for sure?

I wanna get some Bootsy action goin' on.

I haven't heard confirmation for bass, but I assume (and hope) they will have it.

And ditto on throwing a mu-tron envelope filter on there to sound like Bootsy. Or add a Big Muff-pi distortion or chorusing
