View Full Version : When did you decide you were getting Rock Band?

It was decided a few days ago when I was looking at Guitar Hero III on Wikipedia. GHIII honestly looks like a piece of **** game now that Neversoft is part of it. I have GHII but GHIII just seems like a terrible game. So then I got bored and looked up Rock Band. I looked at the songs they had in it so far and it already looked way better than GHIII. But I was still a bit skeptical because I thought I had to buy all the instruments with the game. When I learned that I didn't... it was decided. Rock Band is gonna be one kick ass game and GHIII will blow ass. Probably.

The day of the press release. Didn't know jack about the game but I knew Harmonix was making it and then it was decided.

I think the exact moment was when I read "Harmonix announces Rock Band". Not to sound like a fan boy but Frequency, Amplitude and the GH series are some of my all time favorite games, so where ever HMX goes, I follow. No Hate for GH3 from me though, I'm still intending to by the game with the Les Paul.

A long ass time ago. Dont remember what month, but I remember it was cold. My friend Cody was telling me "There's a new game coming out! It's like guitar hero, but with drums and singing!" At first I was like "Psh, sounds stupid" Then my other friend Bill got a magazine telling me about it. Then I was like "Must....have it..."

Few months back when I got linked to a Kotaku article about RB from Penny Arcade.
I knew right then and there my quest had begun. I was gonna get this game no matter what.
No matter what.

The day I first heard a rumor there was gonna be a game with a guitar, bass, drums, and vocals.
I did some research and voila!, I've been here since April.

I never got play GH I or II by the time I got excited about the game I had already sold my PS2 and was saving enough money to purchase my PS3, so that was kinda sad....
It wasn't until a read a huge story on Rockband in GameInfomer and did a little reaserch on the internet, the next day a took a few of my PS3 games, traded them in towards the preorder of the bundle pack. Don't regret that decision one bit!! And now I just cant wait for the release.....

im not much of a gamer, mainly got the ps3 for blu ray playback, but a friend of mine is. he's how i first learned about guitar hero for the ps2 (i dont own a ps2). that game was fun. and so anyway he linked me the welcome to the jungle clip, and damn i was stoked, especially after learning it would have drums. i knew i woud get it regardless of the price. just waiting for the release is crazy. that's how i ended up on this site. just trying to feed off of any tidbit about the game.

I knew I wanted it the second I read an article about it in EGM (I think it was EGM, at least:confused:) in June.

aI was a bit skeptical, because I thought it was too good to be true, but when I saw the Game Informer Scans I knew.

Don't remember exactly when, I was looking into GH2 after buying it, then came across an Article claiming Harmonix would be creating Rock Band with all 4 Instruments, Right then and There I KNEW i was getting it, without Songs or any real info on the game just that it would be "Rockband"

I had always been quite interested, and excited from the day it was first announced.
But once i saw the welcome to the jungle video I knew i would be getting it (mainly because of how fun drums looked)

I haven't decided yet. I know I'm getting GHIII. I'll get RB if it's released for the Wii since that is the only next gen console I'd consider getting at this point.
Welcome to the Jungle will be on GHIII, btw. That video was taken from a proof of concept, not the final, from what I understand. Unless HMX has a trick up it sleeve, which is possible. :)

I decided that I wanted to buy RB when I heard that the Harmonix side was making it.
When I heard that Neversoft was in charge of GH III, I knew it would be an absolute piece of garbage. Neversoft SUCKS! THEY SUCK!

I decided the day before the press release. Some clever people noticed rockbandgame.com registered to HMX before it was officially announced.

When the first Guitar Hero 3 videos were released... The game just didn't look like Guitar Hero anymore. I dunno...
But E3 2007 solidified my immediate purchase of Rock Band, though.

Long before it was ever announced, back in the GH1 days. I told a buddy of mine, who got me started on my GH addiction, that they ought to make a full Band Hero game someday. I figured it would be at LEAST 2010 before something like that was possible, then harmonix blows me away by announcing it 3 years earlier. There was never any doubt...

When I rhetorically said "Wouldn't it be cool if they added a guitar and drums to Rock Band? I think they're going to do it eventually."
BTW, I'm a prophet ;)

4/2/07 after I realized it wasn't an April Fools joke.
VV Thanks, I don't know why I thought it was 4/1... Maybe because I thought at first it was an April Fools joke! :)

It was April 2nd it was announced. I was hooked.
I check out IGN everyday just in general for game news and such. As soon as I saw, "Harmonix next game revealed" and then read the little details they had.
I was sold right at that moment. That started this 4 month journey of searching for more news, info, and details on the game. I'm dying to play :D

when me and my buddies were playing GH1 about 2 years ago we got the idea that they should add bass, drums, and vocals. Another friend of mine said that they should add dance pads to the game... I don't talk to him much anymore ;)
I decided that I was going to buy RB after watching the G4 hands on interview at E3.

I started looking up more info about rhythm games right after I got my "Kick the Bucket" Achievement on April 16th, 2007. On that chilled night on the internet I found information on a game called Rock Band... the rest is history.
