Serious truth right there. Please, no emo or gothic. If I want to get depressed, I'll call 1-800-suicide. I want to play a game. a rock game. and generally, I want to play games that make me feel positive emotions, not make me want to slice my wrists.

Less emo, more Grunge.
Though I don't mind Gothic music, atleast if it by "real" Goth-bands like Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride.

Actually, I don't quite know what you people call emo, but if you say The Cure or Placebo is emo, then I want emo.

I rather want emo than Metal or classic rock.

Yes, there is no true definition of Emo, that I've heard. Its just grown into a word used for music that people don't like, I've seen lots of bands from totally different Genres get categorized as "Emo" just because a person didn't like them

Emo was actually a real type of music at one time. During the late 80's, "emotional hardcore" bands started popping up and getting slight media attention (not much because of their DIY attitude).

Rites Of Spring, Embrace, Moss Icon, Funeral Dinner, Gray Matter, Hot Cross, Off Minor, Indian Summer, Sleepytime Trio

^ real emo bands.

My Chemical Romance, or whatever you call "emo" nowadays is just Post-Hardcore.

Seemingly, emo is some sort of second descriptor for bands. It is usually applied based on the way the band dresses, the lyrical content, and sometimes the genre (Usually Pop Punk, MCR is disputed though).

The cure is Post Punk. Post Punk was sort of a mix between Glam Rock, Punk, and some other genres. Kind of like New Wave, but instead of the pop influences it had influences in more experimental music. Post Punk evolved into the indie and alternative stuff today.

Don't forget Fugazi and Sunny Day Real Estate. Oh and Bright Eyes. They started the whole acoustic-aspect of emo music inspiring bands like Dashboard Confessional.

So let's get our facts straight. There was one "emo" song in GH2 and it was only on the Xbox 360 Version.

Harmonix themselves said they wanted more types of Rock music, and Emo is one of them. Most of you seem to hate it, while some like it, so I'm pretty sure it will be in. If everyone hated it, that would be a different story.

You people don't make all the decisions.

There are many other genres they could include that are better than emo.

Most of you guys are being ignorant. Then again, ignorance is bliss...

Really, you could call even the truest of emo music 'whiney' music. And that is true. But you could also compare some emo songs/bands to that of... lets say Megadeth or Pantera, talking about life issues, and also death, but the lyrics of emo music are a bit more of a strech than that of Megadeth or Pantera.

All this stuff labled 'emo' today is because some f*cktard from MTV got they're hands on a once great underground genre, and now stupid masochist MTV whores got they're hands on it and f**ked up that once great genre.

Hey guys, don't be technical and say "omg its emoshunal! lotz o clascic rokk songz r emoshunal loL!!!!!!!!!!!". When they say emo, they mean a specific type of emotional, along with how the band sounds. Read my post before.

I have no clue how emotive hardcore became the emo of today. I think they call that music emocore now or something (I read on wikipedia). The emo of today is so ingrained in society, people won't stop. Most people don't even know where the term comes from.

You just dont get it, do ya?

In the early to mid 90's a buch of hard core (mostly east coast and mid-atlantic...NY, DC, Philly) decided to stop screaming so much and start singing melodies over hard core music and added some more melodic guitar parts. Since hard core now had a melody and a little bit of "math rock" or "art rock" added to it, it was "emotional" or "emo". Nowdays it's usually referred to as emo-core or scream-o. But it is the origin of the genre.

What it isn't...

Emo isn't some whinny cry-baby wussy boy with an accoustic guitar and too many feelings (Chris Carraba, Pedro the Lion). People need to stop labling these neo-folkies as emo bands and call them what they really are...dirty hippies. Most of those skinny boys in tight t-shirts aren't tough enough to be in a REAL emo band. Does anyone remember the term "college rock"? Pavement? Sebedoh? That's right...sweater wearin', floor starin', self loathing indie rockers ("Look at me. I'm so smart because I hang out in coffee shops and talk about independent movies and bands you've never heard of.") Good Charlotte isn't a punk band and Dashboard Confessional isn't emo. Sounds like someone needs an a** kicking.

I think that you all should stop talking about what you want to see more of in RB. The game needs to have a BALANCE of ALL kinds of Rock. HMX isn't going to make a RB with only Metal or 80's. That's what DLC is for. The game will launch with a balance of all genres and the player will have the option of customizing their Rock Band with DLC. So stop lobbying for a metal heavy, classic heavy or emo heavy RB!
