It seems it's been a little while since I've seen some Dream Theater and/or prog threads in here. It's time to revive the subject.

In this game, the prog genre is WAY under represented. It has five songs total and is comprised of two bands! Rush and Coheed. As good and as appreciated those songs are in this game...many of us fans would really like to see that genre expand within the game. And what better band than Dream Theater to do that with.

Dream Theater in many ways are the respected modern prog band today and their music has much to offer Rock Band.

Vocals-Dream Theater vocals are dramatic, operatic, and dynamic. With constant high & lows with many style changes in many DT songs; It can be a challenge for many singers out there and are very fun to sing.

Guitars-Dream Theater guitars are always interesting. Once again the styles often vary quite a bit. Even within the same song. Solos, creative hooks and riffs are never short of amazing and pack any given song to brim with creativity. It may be a bit technical but for anyone who wants a challenge, a Dream Theater song would make a next great "Impossible" guitar song.

Drums-Now your talking Modern Drummer Magazine's 2004 Fall of Fame inductee Mike Portnoy. His drumming may end up as the highlight for a Dream Theater DLC. Drumming in Dream Theater songs are never repetitive since time changes a constant within a given song. I would imagine that drums tracks will be filled with many drum fill sections. And they can range from skull crushing metal like drumming -to- tasty, artistic drumming. Almost any Dream Theater track would be "nightmare" or "Impossible" but insanely fun and rockin'

Bass- Tired of the boring bass tracks on this game? Get a DT song in there. Dream Theater is one of the few bands where the bass is as technical and creative as the rest of the band. I can guarantee that if a DT song is put into this game...for once people will argue about who wants to be the bassist.

Keyboards- Now this presents an interesting opportunity for Rock Band. Dream Theater is a rarity in the fact that the keyboard has as many solos as the guitar. I think it would be awesome if Rock Band allowed keyboard tracks in lieu of bass tracks since they are as vital to DT music as bass is to other bands. Or even allow the bass tracks to switch back and forth between bass and keys when a key solo comes in. That would make any DLC from Dream Theater unique from anything else in Rock Band.

As a Band dynamic...Dream Theater songs would challenge everyone involved and would allow us fans to play heavier songs which are in such high demand. Dream Theater would make an incredible addition to Rock Band that is unlike anything in rock music today.

So, all you prog fans out there. Let it be known that we want this kind of music in Rock Band. Post in this thread and let's keep it alive. Also, if you have additional reasons why DT should be in Rock Band...Let them be known!

I would love to see some Dream Theatre on Rock Band. However, they may shy away from it because of the keyboards, though. I seem to remember reading a post from one of the Developers saying such and such song was not a candidate for rock band because of a heavy keyboard solo.

Other prog bands I wish they would get: Queenryche, Jethro Tull, maybe even a little Yes and Fates Warning.
