Gee, a guitar solo that's just an exact duplicate of the vocal melody, one that can be played by anybody that's been playing guitar for all of 2 weeks. Bah :(

But these are supposed to be the most incredibly BAD solos of all time...I think these guys can out play most of the bands in existense when it comes to solos. I've never seen two guitar players play so well and so fast together. There's definitely the funny factor in some music, but the only reason I could think of their music making anyone sick is because it's practically impossible to even think that fast.

thats a funny joke
dragonforce can't play out anybody. they have no idea what they are doing live. recording means nothing. if you can pull it off live, then that gives you alot more credit. really, if they want to be serious as guitarists, they need to make sure they actually know how to play what they are writing. plus, why do you think speed is everything? most of their solos don't even sound that good. they are just fast which people think is cool. speed is the worst way to judge a guitar player(and drummer for that matter).
and for the person who made the TSOAF comment, i do like the band. it's just that they mix like 3 seperate solos together near the end of that song and it's REALLY hard to listen to without going "wtf is this ****".

Any solo by The Killers does not qualify as a solo, and yet they call them solos. They are the worst.

"Punk Rock Girl" by The Dead Milkmen - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0cqlK9oQ_g
Although the Milkmen never really explained what this song was about, I imagine it was to be a punky, satirical take on most of the incredibly stupid glam-metal ballads and generic solos that were crowding the airwaves at the time. I think they succeeded quite well. :)

I agree that isn't a great solo, but there are definately worse solos.
People are probably going to disagree, but I think that the Raining Blood solo is just garbage. It seriously just sounds like noise. Its like feed back plus really fast alternate picking with a few floyd rose whammys. There are still worse solos than this, but I feel that this is a horrible solo by a band that is supposed to be really good instrumentally.

I agree. Raining Blood is quite possibly the worst song ever written. And as for Nirvana and The Killers, their solos are more about sounding good musically than speed or skill. Yeah, When You Were Young would be better if it didn't repeat the same kind-of-boring solo like three times, but I think that the Smell Like Teen Spirit solo is good. Kurt wasn't a talented guitarist speed-wise, but he's one of the best song writers of the 90's.

I totally agree, and I hate dragonforce with all my heart (mostly because people who hate power metal use them as reference, when in reality as far as power metal is concerned they suck balls. Their singer has a very annoying voice.) But, I disagree with the drummer reference. Being a fast drummer means you are an amazing drummer. Even if you dislike speed, you can't deny a fast drummer has killer skills. Being not just fast, but incredibly coordinated with what you are doing with the pedals, while not the definite critique for a great drummer, a guy that does that is great drummer.

any solo done by yngwie malmsteen? i mean, he can play fast... and thats cool and all...but its ALWAYS the same set of notes. maybe he's playing them backwards? or forwards. it doesn't really matter, its lacks any real creativity imo. makes my ear drums sad lol

Through the fire and flames solo? You're an idiot, that solo is amazing, no matter how crap they are live.
The cult of personality solo is no where near worst solo of all time, it sounds all the same but it isn't bad.
Talking about Raining blood, I'll take that as worst, that fred durst thing can't even count ~.~;

I wrote a "solo" once (though I guess it's actually a grindcore song now that I think about it). It was an F chord with the guitar tuned in drop D with loads of fuzz, followed by me screaming "I'm spent" immediately afterwords. It was the result of a conversation about my friend and what he could do with his bed... I'm going to stop now.
In all seriousness tho, Raining Blood is pretty bad.

you do realize that once they lose all the techs, the people cleaning up what they play, and the editing they are screwed. Have you ever heard them live? Their parts aren't even on beat.
Yeah, slow the solos down and it's a random conglomeration of notes making no sense.

I cant remember what song it was some fred durst song, that solo sucked balls
I would say boston has good solos, but the only problem is every single one sounds the same, so pretty much they have one good solo and the rest are bad cuz they all sound basically the same
Through the fire and the flames is pretty ***. I mean if they cant do it live then whats the point! I mean the live version is supposed to be better i mean look at deep purple they extend their solos live, dragonforce doesnt even play theirs
Oh yea Talk dirty to me by poison has a pretty *** solo
Smells like teen spirit its solo is very easy, i jus started playing guitar and its a easy ass thing to learn, but it fits the song and the melody so i wouldnt say its too horrible.

lol that whole song is easy to play. but i don't the song being easy to play makes it bad. if it works, it works. its sad when people think shredding is the only way to play a solo =/
The song/solo that comes to mind is "Lick it Up" by KISS.

Have you seen them live? You didn't mention it, so I don't know. I have, multiple times, and they can damn well pull it off live. They may not have the best guitarists in the world, but I feel they don't deserve the slack they are receiving. What they do is still awesome.

well you see the thing about dragonforce live is, most of the time, they can do it, but there's that percent of the time where they are too messed up to even stand straight.
there are some youtube videos about that, but the few times i saw them live they were great.

Not to a particular song, but I was subjected to a Survivor concert a couple of years ago (yes "Eye of the Tiger" Survivor - they're still around) as an assignment for a magazine I worked for. Midway through the show the guitarist entered this 20+ minute long solo that was as cheesey as it was excruciating and cliched. I couldn't help but think of Nigel Tuffnel from Spinal Tap as he wailed away on his Gibson. Easily the worst guitar solo I have ever seen or heard.

U said it man. Just cuz Ringo didn't have any super crazy fast solo doesn't make him an average drummer. He is great. An amazing drummer.

Dragonforce highlights speed. There's nothing interesting other than that. In most cases where people go "cool, that's so fast!," it's usually the most boring rhythm, makes no sense musically, and I know for a fact, they're no one-take band, which means weeks in the studio over one song. They are okay technically, but it's not by any means any music to claim a superior taste over.

There was a band either 60's 70's not quite sure called the shaggs and they couldn't play their instruments. So if you think people who can play good play bad imagine if you can't play. My pal foot foot is horrible the opening riff is a mismatch mush of bad chords
