Voodoo Extreme is reporting that EA's Earning statement list a bunch of new and upcoming titles.

# EA Sports Casual Original Property
# Lord of the Rings (Pandemic)
# MySims Creator
# MySims Kingdom
# MySims Party
# MySims PC

# Rock Band (Harmonix)
# Sim Animals
# Skate 2
# Spore Next-Gen for Consoles
# Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (BioWare)

As you can see, RockBand is in there.
So what do you think? Add-on work? Or new title ie RB2?
If the later, so much for the RB platform.

Could be the release for Europe, yes Europe still hasn't got the game.

I think this is the statement where the Wii version was leaked.

I think that's a little knee-jerk. I think RB as platform is currently being proven through the weekly DLC, which now total 60 songs. By simply maintaining that pace, by end of year they'll be around 170 songs.
But none of that precludes them from doing what seems obvious to me: releasing additional game discs. The primary reason to do this is to bring more new players into the RB universe. The original game disc will become stale (if it hasn't already)...and retailers will want something fresh in order to stock those big game boxes. A new disc every 12 - 18 months is simply a marketing tool for EA/HMX to lure new players; not an indication that RB as platform is dead.
Also, it could be the Euro release:p

Add-on work, European release, and Wii release, IMO.

Caught me rabble-rousing :)
The Wii version is a good bet. I hope that if they ever do as you say, they keep the original disks concurrent through auto-updates and such.

i dont think id be very happy about a sequel coming out. i would have to have to go back to rock band 1 to play my $100 worth of dlc... unless they let you play all your dlc in the sequel. that is the ONLY way i would buy a rock band 2 (unless it came out years from now on another platform.)

i agree.. that's what upset me about GH2, i spent that money getting all that new DLC and then it doesnt even carry over.. i feel like we're putting money into car parts building our babies up from scratch.. i really hope theres a way to carry over all the DLC and RB songs into the sequel IF there is a sequel being planned in the near future (which i hope there isn't because i'm still having a blast with the first RB)

There is the accessory kit coming out, along with individual instruments. You lose the major barrior of joining the croud when you cut down the $170 price tag. I think they also may resku the product to the RB game with a guitar, or the game with drums etc.

Because we aren't seeing the original source I have a feeling there's a misunderstanding here. It probably refers to earnings of either an add-on, European release, or just the downloads.

That is what I was thinking, but I'm not sure if they would list that on there or not. Also what makes it interesting is it isn't even called Rock Band 2 or anything like that, it's simply Rock Band. Maybe its a Wii release, or European release.

Exactly what just about everybody else has said. That page says games that are "currently under development".
That would include the European release, Wii version, DLC, patches, etc. Lots of development still going on for RB.

There was the CD in the OXM magazine that just let you download three songs from the disc onto your xbox. I don't see why they couldn't release a CD that had many many new songs onto it, and you just download them onto your hard drive.

Nintendo must've been so ticked off that such an obvious franchise didn't hit their system last year.

They can't do that for most mainstream/popular songs, because there is no way to prevent piracy. They can only do it with songs for which they don't care about piracy -- promotional tracks and stuff like that. (It would be awesome if they partnered with Valve to put the Portal endgame song out this way.)
Someone would buy the disc, install the songs, and return it. Someone would hand the disc to all their buddies. Someone would rent the disc from GameFly.
I bet they could do it with the stuff Jonathan Coulton released under the "Creative Commons" license, though...
