so i hear we can play multiplayer online.... how exactly will this work? I mean, how do you plan to work out the networking to make sure everyone can hear each other, and always stay right in synch? Lag = eeeeeeeeeevvvvvvviiiiiiiiiil in a normal game, let alone something as timing sensitive as this.

I don't know.

Yeah, unfortunately nothing has been revealed yet, including logistical information. I think lag is becoming less and less of an issue with each year as the video game and communications industries move forward. Though I'm confident the system put in place will be fine (maybe some kind of "lobby" beforehand to get everyone synched up? idk) there's always the chance you'll get with someone who has a bad connection. Kick him out and find someone else (in the case of rndom "matchmaking"). If he's your friend and you're trying to jam out as a "band", force him to get a new connection/internet provider, haha.

Yeah I hope they've got some awesome netcode to take care of this, because all of our broadband in NZ pretty much sucks no matter what ISP you're with :/

It does not have to be exactly synched anyway, especially for any competing modes, for that they can just have it close and then compare scores at the end.

i'm with them on this, the only time you would really need to be worrying about being synched is if/when you are playing with other people in the same room, where you can actually hear them playing.

in any case i dont really care, because San Diego is one of the best and most connected cities in the world.

Not really. I mean, broadband internet connections still get high latency timings when connecting people of east and west coasts, not to metion USA <=> Europe or USA <=> South America ...

The greater proof of that is Gears of War for the xbox360 that has serious lag issues due to lack of dedicated servers. I don't think the lag issue is fading away, just not yet, specially for consoles.
