View Full Version : Oversight in Online Band Quick Play?

When a band first starts playing and it does a short close up on each member, the game will show you the persons PSN screen name, but what would be better, I think, would be to show the person's CHARACTER name (if they have one).
This is really useless when you get paired with three people on one account and all you get is "memberx(1), memberx(2), memberx(3)" when each one of those people has a unique character name. I'd rather see the unique character names than the same PSN name repeated multiple times.

I do!
Ive long lamented that while it seems reasonable to see the account (PSN/XBL) info below the avatar and the character name above while in the matching lobby, why or why would Harminix choose to show the account name on the cool intro animation screen for each bandmember?

I care about it and dont get why they did that...
Like if I play 3 on the same PSN... I the name 3 times.... I find it dumb... the only time it should show the PSN is when they pick a non created character.

On XBL you see the gamertag if you use a random default character, but if you choose a premade character it shows the character name. It's very cool actually.

Seems to only do that locally. Usually when I play online, I see my character name ("Ash, housewares"), but other people's gamertags.
I can understand why RB would want to show the username of the players, so I'm thinking it would be good if the character introduction screens would show both the character name (if applicable) and the username.

Normally you can see the character name when each person first gets in the room but once you pick the songs and the intro thing starts up it only shows their gamertag and not their actual character names. And I agree also that it would have been cooler to have shown character names at the intro instead of gamertags
matter of fact another cool idea would have been to let each person do a quick 3 second solo or something based on the buttons you press that the other players in the room would be able to hear.

THAT would be awesome!I think so too. I just thought of that while I was reading this thread and thinking about the little intro part. Normally when I see my character I just make a noise or something over the mic, but a little 3 second solo would be cooler

and they wouldn't have to make it like a true solo or anything but they could do it like the Big Rock Endings in terms of no matter what buttons you press it just plays the track, but instead they could have different sounds and combinations of solos based what which buttons your strumming or hitting.

Not at all. It annoyed me the first time I played online and it continues to annoy me. It should realistically display both - the profile name should be there (somewhere inconspicuous) so you can identify people to add as friends. Actually, just on the find player. instrument and difficulty screens would be sufficient.
But the way it is now is another nail in the coffin for immersion into the rock band atmosphere.

I think its a great Idea! However it would be alot easier if you could record your intro before you go online. Like an option to record a small solo that it would play during the intro. It could be like our signature move!
Also I think it it would have been nice to see both our names and gamertags during the intro. Whats the point of having a name if only you can see it!!! :(
