So i just cant handle these stock strats. And everytime my friend came over to rock i would shutter at the sight of his strat with that yellow neck... So I painted his for him, red n black, removed all the buttons, strum bar did almost everything.

Had ALOT of problems with this little devil, I used a different kind of paint first go around and some of the mist got on other pieces so when i used the normal krylon on them it had a horrible effect. Also when i tryed to spray my normal clear coat on the other kind of paint it cracked it horribly! So i had so sand off ALLL my work so far and start over. =\ This is the product after sanding all the crap paint off and re doing it with krylon.

My missfortune dosent end there, I had a lamp prolly 2 feet away that i was using to dry the frets after painting them and one of them MELTED as you can see in the picture. I managed to salvage it enough with a dremel that it is still playable but looks ugly (orange main fret in pic)!! So if any one out there has a broken strat or something ILL BUY A FRET FROM YOU =D

I also decided to put a superman symbol on the back of my other strat. It is on there so when i am playing, someone looking at me from behind can see it =p

Despite the melted fret that is still a VERY nice looking axe. I'm jealous.
And the Superman symbol looks great.
Bravo!

sweet axes my friend. im jealous. i totally need a guinness themed guitar. and has anybody figured out how to make like a floyd rose tremelo. obviously it wouldnt work like one, but you could rig it up to feel like one and just work like a normal tremelo. it'd be really freakin sweet.

I like 'em. I want a modded strat that looks like one of those AND is heavier and has a better feeling (les paul-ish) strum bar.

You can do it man its just like 10 bucks in spray paint! And if you seriously want more weight, you can EASILY open it up and like hot glue a few led strips to the back pannel or inside the neck.

I'm planning on painting mine soon. I noticed that you painted the control buttons on this one. Was that much of a challenge? Any tips on that? I have never opened my strat to see how difficult it might be to get to them. I'm also wondering if it would be easy enough to paint the base of the wammy bar.

Nicely done!
I just customize mine with stickers because I am completely inept at taking things apart and getting them back together again. I'm always impressed with everyone that has custom painted their guitars. Some of the ones on the old GH forums were amazing.

Its really simple man. All you do is undo the like 6 screws that hold in the circuit board behind the buttons and they come right out. Then just put some tape over the holes from the inside to protect the electronics when painting the body. Gl
