How do you know is your drums are SL?

Is that a portion of the part number or model number on the drum set?

yes look for the serial number and it'll say ##########(EL/QM/SL)

Are we sure someone isn't seeing EL but thinking they are seeing SL?
Es and Ss can look similar.

My drums only have a model# and a p/n, and in both of those there is no mention of an SL, SE, QM whatever. How do I tell what kind of drum set do I have?

I'm thinking you're right, haven't seen one picture yet showing a SL, I got EL's as last rma and they are different than release day EL's.

What is the significance of each model?

I'm wondering if this isn't the case. I just RMA'ed my old EL set and the new ones I just got back are EL's, as well, but they definitely feel different from my first set, and are spot-on rock solid. Whereas my old EL's would drop notes here and there, this set has yet to drop a single one in the first 8-10 songs I've played. I was amazed to play a dead-simple song like "I Think I'm Paranoid" on Expert and rattle off a 99% with a 972 note streak. That was just plain not possible in my old EL's.

So, I'm not sure if indeed the SL's are just newer EL's, but the kit I just received from EA is darn near perfect, and they turned that Express Request around in less than 2 days. Kudos, guys. Thank you.

No, there was a thread where a guy posted a picture of his kit's model number stamped underneath, and it was clearly SL, not EL.

Funny thing is I waited 7 days to get them and was dying to try them out but I just haven't had the time to try them yet. Maybe tonight. Hopefully

I bought my rock band set at gamestop on jan 25 o8. I got the EL kit and it rocks the guitar was broke 5 min after use. Just disconected and wouldnt turn back on. Xbox360 version. I just got into hard 2 days ago and I played a song with tons of red notes back to back I hit them all! I suck at the drums but at least I know now I have a solid set and I don't use one mod.

The model number and EL/QM/SL designation is on the sticker on the underside of the red pad. Should be easy to check.

UPS says the new RMA should arrive tomorrow. I'm really crossing my fingers for a 100% functioning kit.

I have a FLAWLESS set of ELs. A friend of mine offered me $100 AND his QM set, and I still declined. If you got a good set, you stick with them because apparently it's hard to get a nicely working set.

Yeah my new rma is set to arrive tomorrow. Thing is I didn't know UPS worked today. Also I'm still bummed I have to rma my ELs, they were flawless, but the heads cracked. Definantly going to be putting some mutes on my new set, for protection and sound.

Saw these on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/PS3-Rock-Band-Drums-NIB_W0QQitemZ140208406172QQihZ004QQcategoryZ147177 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohos ting

I am thinking about bidding on them myself. Hopefully the bids want get out of hand. Seems everyone is trying to get a "SL" model.

I have 2 sets, One set came with my PS2 bundle, it IS an SL set the serial is located dead center between the middle drums on the bottom. They play great. The drum heads on the SL seem to be much closer to the casing than others. I guess if no one posts detailed pics of the SL's. I'll rip mine apart again. I shoulda took pics when I had them open putting cut up towells in the hollow areas. The inside does look different than the EL and QM pics I have seen. ALSO, the kick pedal that comes with the SL must be a version 3 at it looks different than the version 1 and 2 pics, plus it is literaly almost silent.

Being the SL was my first set, I could not understand what people were complaining about in the kick pedal noise, but now that I have an EL with a version 2 kick pedal, I can hear it click for sure.

My SL set picks up hits even with my finger tip. I have 4mm foam rubber on middle drums and 2mm on outer.

The other set I got is a stand alone set purchased 2 days ago and it is the "new" version EL which plays very nice as well.

Here are pics of the SL kit compared to the new version EL kit. Sorry, for the link to another thread. The sites limits the upload amount and wouldn't let me share the same file for each thread.

just wondering. does anyone have an SL set for 360? Seems like most SL owners have the PS3 version.
