View Full Version : Wired Controllers?! Wow Harmonix

I know it is just a rumor, but if the 360 is wired that's gotta be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I don't really care about tripping over the cord or anything, but there's only 3 usb ports! That won't even be enough for the whole band! Plus if you want to play online, there's only 2!!!!!!!!!! It just doesn't make sense.

You couldn't post this in one of the 20 other threads currently on the front page of this forum?

It's Microsoft's fault for this. They are the ones being dicks about their wireless protocol.

agreed.... blame no one but Microsoft. I am sure HMX has a good solution to the usb port problem.

Blame Microsoft? Are you ****ing kidding me. You guys are aware that GHIII is wireless. And only costs $10 more than GH2.

Blame Harmonix.

That's it give me a week we need a n00bs guide.

We shouldn't be blaming anyone, it might not be true, and we know few details.

Plus there are these things called USB couplers. They turn one USB port into 2 or 4 like a power strip.

Plus you fail to realize that no one wants to play bass. That automatically frees up a USB port.

Didn't someone mention that there will be USB ports on the drum kit or something?

Anyway...who cares. Wired doesn't bother me. It's not like I'll be running around my house with a wireless guitar around my neck... as I kinda need to be looking at the screen while I'm playing, so I won't be going too far anyway.

The regular controllers for 360 are wireless, so are the GHII guitars. Why wouldn't these be wireless. You mean to tell me that they can't make wireless controllers right now? We have 3 months...

The GHII controllers are not wireless. And the reason is because it's propriety software, and for some "god only knows" reason, Microsoft is being an ass about licensing it, at the expense of the consumers.

I think HMX is smarter than you are Pluto. In fact, I know they are smarter than you are. They have found a solution for this very old problem. I am pretty sure they will be using some sort of USB hub. Wireless isn't necessary anyway, I prefer wired because charging and exchanging batteries is a pain.

Plus everything that you have said has already been conversed on many other threads. So next time you wanna open your mouth, put a sock in it and click the search button.

Here's the way it goes from what I understand.

1.)Guy on forum says "hey, wireless!"
2.)Guy from harmonix reads "hey, wireless!" and decides to contact Microsoft.
3.)Guy from microsoft says "hold on, I'll check with my boss"
4.)Boss of guy says "I'll check with my boss"
5.)Boss of boss of guy says "I'll check with my boss"
.
.
(later that month)
.
.
371.)boss of boss of boss of boss of boss of boss (etc) of guy says "Hey, Bill...so uh...those controllers, y'know, the ones with wires on em'? Yeah...can we do something about that? Bill Gates throws down his favorite "My little Pony" angrily, and says "ask someone else!"

There you have it. There's the story.

Well, if GH and RB will let you play their guitars on each other game, then you could do wireless. Hell, I actually think thats the best idea, instead of buying 4 guitars, only buy 2 a strat and a les paul.

Well, i do beleive, if you want a full band offline, that you will have enough USB ports, and you can connect to a wired connection. but if you are a lazy fatass, then you can keep your wireless connected, and get a USB hub, or something. I hope the rumor about the Drums having a thing where you can plug in the USB guitars is true, but i doubt it.

Blame Harmonix.

Seriously. If Harmonix wanted to make it happen, they would, even if it meant eating a little more cost. Seems Activision is doing it, and it only adds $10. As it stands, 360 owners are getting screwed on this bundle as it would cost $50 more to get the same contents but wireless. Really, why even offer this bundle?

Because people like me will buy it since we'd rather save cash than buy more batteries.

I hear your point. Wired does have the battery advantage. However, I'd argue that wireless control is the de facto standard for this generation, and with GH3 getting a wireless guitar and the PS3 getting a wireless guitar in the RB bundle, by comparison they're short-changing people buying the 360 bundle if it's wired.

To raise a counterpoint, I'd be less inclined to buy the PS3 bundle because it's Bluetooth, but that's just based on personal experience so I highly doubt I speak for any sort of majority. ;)

Edit: Plus I'll already be juggling three sets of batteries for the Wii + one set of batteries for my Wavebird, and then adding on the 360/PS3 controller on top of that. Picking up three more wireless peripherals would drive me insane. ;)

Especially when I start adding additional traditional controllers to the mix. -_-

yeah you can play a whole band wired... but what if you want to play online like band v band?? is that possible or what?

And yeah I would actually like wired because real rock stars have wired on stage, but its the ports. And I dont wanna buy batteries OR a usb adapter thingy.

ANNNNDDD... a lot of people have said this had been posted before... don't read it then! It's gotten 3 pages of responses in like... 10 hours so i dont care haha

but thanks for replies

Interesting. I don't have any experience w/ bluetooth.

Fair enough

all of this battery talk for the ps3... why wouldnt they include a usb slot on the guitar to plug into the ps3 for chargeing. Just like the sixaxis controller. Would just make most sense. (unless its cost more to manufacture exc..)

Why do you lose a USB port just because you go online? (do u use a USB modem or something?)

for all anyone knows, Activision could have paid MS an assload of money to get wireless tech on the 360.. money that EA wouldn't pony up

Hell, for all anyone knows, Sasquatch started the whole rumor of no wireless in the first place!

Let's complain once we get some facts

No one know if the guitars are or aren't wired. No official response yet. I would like a wireless one. Just one so when I play alone or alone with only people online, I wouldn't have to worry about plugging the guitar it.
