Why Is everybody always hating on Wave Of Mutilation????

i see a lot of criticism on this song here but...

sure its slow, easy, short and the guys voice kinda sounds like a girl but i think its a catchy fun to play and has good lyrics. anybody else????

If you don't get it, I can't explain it. Pixies always bring a smile to my face. I get that not everybody has the same tastes, but the inclusion of Pixies was a big selling point for me.

I agree with Wave... I dont like the song itself... maybe if it was instrumental I mightve liked it but it seem seem bleh....

I like the Maps song. They have to have something for women to sing. Granted they could sing guy songs but some don't like doing that.

I don't like the Dead on Arrival, When You Were Young and Main Offender. I don't feel these songs are fun to play.

I like it. It's got to do with my appreciation for slower music. It's not that fun to play, but I always think: "On a Wave of Multilation Wave of Mutilation"

I'm not a Pixies freak and only really like the 'Doolittle' and 'Bossanova' albums, but I love the song. It's short, got great lyrics, and has some fun as hell drumming.

Im not a fan of Wave of Mutilation either, but I don't detest it like some other songs that come on. Dead on Arrival, Are You Gonna Be My Girl, and Electric Version to name a few.

^Same here. I must have been a little to young to listen to the Pixies when I was growing up. I discovered them a few years ago, and they are now one of my favorite bands all time. I can probably think of 20 other Pixie songs I'd rather have in Rock Band, but I'm not going to be picky. Wave of Mutilation is better than a lot of other songs that could be in the game. But... please put in "Dig for Fire". It's in my top 5 songs ever.

At first, the cynic in me had a field day with this song. However, it certainly has grown on me. I love the drums the most now. Me and my friends even find ourselves reciting "wave of mutilation, wave of mutilation" in a whiny girl voice randomly.

In my opinion, the only songs that I can't really can't stand on this game are....1. THE ABSOLUTE WORST SONG is The New Pornographers song. I hate that song, guitar, bass, vocals, drums....hate it.

2. The song this thread is about. There really isn't anything WRONG with the song, it just doesn't appeal to me at all.

3. While I dislike this song, it is not hated.....The mother hips....I just don't care a whole lot for it, but it's not awful.

So I guess what I am really saying is that I only hate one song on the whole game...and hate is a strong word.

Agree with the poster that said the Pixies being in the game was a big selling point. Looking at the song list and seeing some different stuff - like the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, the New Pornographers, etc. was pretty surprising and what got my interest up in the first place. So even though you guys hate the songs, rest assured that someone out there likes them.

I hope like hell they put more Pixies in the game - Where is My Mind would be pretty frickin' sweet.

Nirvana sounds a whole lot the the pixies. For starters, although it is common now, the whole soft verse loud chorus (a Nirvana staple, which many bands do now) was a pixies innovation.

Kurt Cobain wanted In Utero to sound like a pixies album.

Listen to the song 'Tame' by Pixies for example... that song is a template for a good deal of the Nirvana sound.

I bought Rock Band within 30 minutes of finding out there was a Pixies song in it. They are the best band of all time. That song is uncharacteristically slow, but the UK Surf version people seem to like even more (from the Pump Up The Volume soundtrack) is even slower, so there's no satisfying everyone. The drum part is great great fun, and I've listened to that song so much that even though I can't sing I can nail that one expert.

My only complaint is, there needs to be more Pixies songs.

I'm with a lot of people in that it was really cool to see that there were bands like the Pixies included in the game. I was afraid it would just be classic rock and unhappy teenager rock, the pixies were a pleasant surprise.

I would just like to add that Maps is by far the most played song in my house, and for good reason. Its catchy, its rythmic, all of the parts are fun (especially the drums on expert!), and the singer is a female (the girls outnumber the boys 3 to 1 in my house). I love the song, my family loves the song, and my friends love the song.
So no, not everybody hates that song.
Ironically, however, before Rockband, i never cared for really listened to the yeah yeah yeahs, and when i did hear them i thought they sucked. It's amazing how easily opinions can be changed....

btw wave of mutilation is a great song too.
