I have some drumming quesions!

I was woundering if any of you could help me on some of my drumming tequinces.

~When doing 2+ fast foot peadles in a row, I have to let my foot float above the peadle in order to do it fast enough. Is there any way to improve my tapping speed?
~When doing long rules, like in the ploice song that is on the dics, do you use to hands to hit it fast enough or just one? It seems that with one hand I hit to slow, but with 2 hands I hit to fast. Should I practice with one had or 2?

To your first question: Yeah, there are a few ways to do it. You could hit it first with your heel and then with your toe. It should work, provided you don't go too fast. You could double tap with your foot by using your ankle as a fulcrum of sorts. Or you could just lift up your leg and bring it down twice really fast.

To your second question: I'm not really sure what you mean. Could you elaborate?

To lift your leg up and bring it down is as terrible, terrible, terrible idea and recommendation. Puts unnecessary stress and weight on the pedal. Hold your foot on the pedal with the heel up to form a right angle (L). Hold the pedal down, and lift it just slightly when you have to do a bass drum beat. Bringing it up and down only slightly reduces the time needed to recover for another beat.

Use 2 hands for quick hits. I do even on a 2 hit sequence.
Go into practice mode to see how many beats per measure are occurring and practice it. Start slow and move up in speed and you'll find you'll be hitting the correct number of hits when you get to full speed. Also note which hand you need to start with for cases where you will move to other drums within a fast roll, making sure the "switch" occurs when your right hand is on an off beat so it will lead on the next drum (when moving left to right). Watch some of Skitzo's youtube videos to see someone good at it smoothly hitting fast rolls across multiple drums.
