So I bought a set of the separately sold drums that came in my store a few days ago, bring them home today and...

I know you can't read it so small but that serial ends in EL, and it seems that is exactly what it is. I seem to be getting pad hits not registering particularly on my yellow pad. This is getting ridiculous. My disappointment is palpable. Guess I could always use two sets of drums anyway, given that I've just sent out my completely cracked EL set yesterday. Any questions?

Why are they still manufacturing this model?

Just take these back once your replacement ones come in.....It's a shame they are not an improvement...I would expect your replacement one's should be fine....I got my replacement ones recently and they are fabulous....I have put a beating on them and they are holding up perfectly....I do highly recommend the gum rubber pads though to protect the pads and dampen the noise...

Your guess is as good as mine, I would have preferred a QM with all it's problems to this, I never expected just another EL. Ah well.
