I am having the same problem. I just bought Rock Band on Friday and My Drums don't seem to want to pick up everything. They are not picking up every hit.

I was going to post a new thread, but it sounds like you're having the same problem so I'll just bump this one.
When I bought the game, it came with an EL set. An easy way to test the drums, I've found, is to start up a song with a long drum-free intro. I use Blackened. You can play the drums for a good 30 seconds just like it was a fill part.
If I sit there hitting one of the pads repeatedly, regardless of the pad, about 1 in every 5 hits doesn't register with the game, no matter how soft or hard I do it. Harder does work better (hitting it even a little lightly hardly registers any hits), but at best it misses 1 in every 5 hits.
So I RMA'd my set and got a new one (super fast... did it thursday night, went out of town friday, got home today and they were here). I was hoping for a QM, but unfortunately got another EL. There is no difference, as far as I can tell. So I'm guessing this is just how the ELs are... you have to hit them hard and close to the middle, and even then it doesn't always register. Doing the rolls as the start of Cherub Rock in expert is impossible (even in hard I've only gotten close to getting every note), as far as I can tell, at least with these two sets.
So, even though these sets may not be broken, should I just request a new one until I get a QM, or at least an EL that's more sensitive? It pretty much ruins the fun of drumming when I keep getting pissed off that the game isn't registering my playing.

My EL set doesn't have this problem. Sounds like you're just unlucky? I really haven't noticed any random missed notes. My note streaks are in the thousands.

So I guess that means I'll RMA again and hope the next set is either a QM or a working EL.
I also think my pedal just started cracking in the middle. Awesome.

Yes i hav that problem too... I got so mad that I played hitting the drums like hell to see if they register ... and after hitting the hell out of the first(red) drum it seems to be working fine. Not very good but better.
Can't complain much cause I'm Far Far Away to apply for an RMA.
First I was happy cause I thought I have the second version, since my sticks are not printed with the Logo. :(

Bump.
So has anyone sent in an EL set and received either a QM or a working EL set? I'm curious what the odds are that I could get a working one if I RMA again. It seems like the ELs are what most people get and it seems like most of them don't register all the notes perfectly, or if they do, you're forced to hit the pads with a lot of force and right in the middle.

I got a QM like a month ago when I did a replacement. Ballroom Blitz was giving me the hardest time on hard (red won't register rolls!) so I got an RMA and got a EL set yesterday. While the rolls seem to be better on the EL, it is waaay less sensitive then the QM I have. I think I'm going to keep my old set and send back the EL. Seems like everyone who did RMAs in the past week have been getting EL sets. I'm missing notes I know I can hit more frequently on the EL set, btw.

My EL set was a bit sketchy at the start i would miss a couple notes here and there but i know i was hitting them but now 2 months later they work perfect nothing at all has broke not even the pedal (people must be pounding it) its just the yellow pad makes an annoying rattle sound.

i got my set on launch and my yellow pad rattled out of the box...didnt think much of it until the red started doing the same thing....rma'd them...hoping id get maybe an sl model....instead i got a 360 model....unfortunately im playin on a ps3....so hopefully ill get a ps3 version this time....havent really had a problem with them except for the rattling.....note streak of 19xx on enter sandman expert. hopefully the new ones will still be good.....really dont want to get a shytty drum set through rma especially since ive read stories about people's new ones being worse than the old ones.

Is there any reason not to just send back the new set when you get one that doesn't work as well as your old one? I'm planning on doing this and RMA'ing again. Eventually I have to get one that works well.

Thats my current plan too. I'll keep on the QM till it totally craps out OR I finally get a working EL/SL/QM

Do those of you who have RMA'd multiple times wait until EA has received the last set you sent back before requesting a new one? Or can you have multiple RMA's active at once?
